i am on optus in australia and i get edge :S

i use the settings
APN: internet
username:
password:

where username and password are blank

can browse the internet. veiw youtube and download things via installer with this.

or is this about something else completly different? :S

i use wi-fi now though that i have bought a wi-fi modem

because it is expensive, i only use it for brief moments if im out and need to search something

yup Im also with optus in Australia. funny thing is I've had my iPhone for 4 months and have still yet to be charged for my data usage!

nah I get my bill monthly and there nothing on it about data usage, very strange but also very welcome. btw im on the $49 Business cap.

Cool so EDGE works on a $30 pre-paid.

just go into settings>general>>network>EDGE and enter the following
APN: internet
username:
password:

where username and password are blank

then open up youtube or something to see if it works, dont use it to often though, i have used up $30 in one night, just downloading a few apps off installer :P
