you know I went crazy for one month using edge and I only managed to use 120 megs......not sure what the big fuss is about unlimited. Definately not an issue for me. 300 megs is plenty.

Don't know if you guys know this: Just found out from a friend last night: If you go for the $30/6GB then you DO NOT get visual voicemail. He was on the phone with Rogers for 3 hours and that's what he was told. Just FYI

$30 for 6GB IS a good deal though. I'm pissed it took complaints and a whole media fallout for Rogers to act but now, what is there to complain about?
actually, we have the best deal in North America for data (other than the sidekick I think)
in the states the best deal is $45 for 5GB. Americans, confirm this! lol

Actually their Finance department will review accounts that have the iPhone IMEI to see if it is eligible for the discounted pricing on the iPhone. The requirement for customers is to have an "in market plan" whether regular consumer plan which is advertised on Rogers.com or an EPP (Employee Price Plan) with an eligible corporate company code, employee number and work contact number. To have the discount on the iPhone the customer must have completed a minimum 12 months since activation or last hardware upgrade and have above $30.00 on the base price of their voice plan on a 3 year term. The "base" doesn't take into account the SAF, 911 or essential services such as the $15.00 Visual Voicemail Value Pack or adding the separate add on 6 GB data plan for $30.00. Customer Relations plans are not eligible as they are not in market plans. So if a rep is dumb enough to tell you it is there's a good chance you won't see the promotional $50.00 credit (ie: 8 GB iPhone 3G $249.00 - $50 promo credit = $199.00 + Admin Fee $35.00) and may actually end up paying more unless you change to an eligible plan or are otherwise forced to change to an eligible plan as advertised in their terms. Even with these requirements I priced out a Rogers customer gets better value by not selecting the all in one iPhone 3G Voice & Data plans that start at $60.00 and instead choose an alternate voice plan such as the $35.00 Megatime unlimited local incoming plan then add $7.00 for unlimited local early evening calling 6 PM to 7 AM, add the $15.00 Visual Voicemail Value Pack (call display, visual voicemail, 2500 sms, who called) and add the $30.00 6 GB data plan, add SAF and 911 for a total of $94.45 MSF + taxes, ECF $400.00 on the voice plan and $100.00 on the data plan which has a 3 year term. Considering that the highest all in one plan only gives the customer 2 GB and is over $100.00 before adding early evening calling or call display it's a far better deal doing it separately. The only real advantage to the all in one plans is the 10000 text and free WIFI at Canadian Hotspots that allow billing to your Rogers Wireless account.

I was allowed to use my current plan with the $30 6GB data plan.
$25 MY5 + $15 smartphone WE + $30 data = $70 = BETTER THAN the damn $75 plan.

You're a tad out of date. Due to the customer complaints, Rogers has opened the $30 6GB plan to all smartphones whether Rogers or Non-Rogers devices.
And good news for those of us who have 2G iPhones, you can also now subscribe to Visual Voice Mail. You just need to get your iPhone's IMEI added to your account.Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

Spoke with Fido CSR this morning and she told me Visual Voice Mail for non-Fido iPhones wasn't possible. I insisted saying that I was pretty sure it was technically possible, but she wouldn't let me have it. I trust anything coming from you Eurisko, and i wonder if you think Fido's policies will be clarified soon regarding VVM for 2G iphone?

Sorry, wouldn't know about Fido's policies. Although they are owned by Rogers, they remain a separate entity.

I didn't say anything that the $30.00 6 GB data plan is only restricted to iPhones as it is available to all Smartphones including Blackberry devices. What I was referring to was that to be eligible for the discounted pricing such as the instant $50.00 promo credit the customer voice plan must be over $30.00 (doesn't take into account SAF, 911 or essentials), must be on a 3 year term and is supposed to be an in market current plan. This is how it's advertised and reason why their finance department will reverse any unauthorized credits or ineligible discounts.

just wanted to say a few things here. I have two phones with rogers for my family.
one of the phones i upgraded to the iphone and signed up for the 30$ data plan. I just called the rogers retention department today and canceled my data plan and put a data block on my phone.
The crazy thing about this call was that the employee who signed me up for the iphone put the data on the wrong phone and I had 900 dollars in charges for one day of use (19mb). of course they fixed it all and canceled my data plan with NO charge at all.
