WAP browsing plans and Data plans are quite different monsters. But you should be aware of that.
But if we can't find the network EDGE settings under FY2.x, how can we be sure about these apn settings on 1st gen iPhones?

What you can do is enable the EDGE menu (although on 2.1 its called "Network settings" or some such thing) to allow you to use your own values.

Go into ~/mobile/Library/Preferences and edit com.apple.carrier.plist to include the lines:

< key >AllowEDGEEditing< /key >
< true/ >

(take out the spaces)

Then reboot your iPhone, go into Settings -> General -> Network and you should see the new menu at the top.

Was everything you typed in Case Sensitive? It won't work otherwise.

I'm not sure where you're entering this, but it seems to be in the wrong area. You need to enter this information inside the com.apple.carrier.plist file. If you have a Mac you can edit this file directly using BBEdit, if you have a PC you need to convert it to text first. For PC, take the file off the iPhone, run it through http://140.124.181.188/~Ekhchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi and then use a regular text editor to enter the above info. Once that's done, move it back to the iPhone, reboot and you should be fine.

no gprs/internet

hi - I have an unlocked 2.0.2 3G iphone, everything works great on it, activation, phone, ipod, wireless but cannot work out how to get the internet when I am not connected wirelessly. I have tried using other peoples simcards who have internet/3g packages within their own phones and same again, phone works but no 3g/internet - I have never seen the magic symbol that is supposed to appear when you're connected.

It is a US phone which I am using in the UK. I have tried inputting the various carrier specific 'cellular data network' settings for each sim card i insert but still the same result - does anyone know how to resolve this?

Hi.
When i was 1.1.4 I could go to settings -> general -> network -> EDGE
to put in the APN and stuff for my network (Optus - Australia)
But now, like some others, I dont even have the button "EDGE" anymore, after i upgraded with QuickPwn to 2.1
So.. how do i put the APN i used to have? i cant access edge at all now
