Default Are there any new settings I can put on my O2 PAYG iPhone
question: are there any new settings for the UK iphone that we unlocked iphone owners can have? For instance, new EDGE settings, a visual voicemail hack, stuff like that, or are the EDGE settings the same? Please tell
    thanks

Im using edge but be warned its really pricey without the £7.50 bolt on, I blew about £9 in an hour or so by not realising to turn it off in services. Ill try to dig out the instructions, but it involved modifying a few files and creating your own proxy.pac file. Its working fine for me, little on the slow side but its working.

Visual voicemail im not seeing happening, itll be like the AT&T, not EVERY account has it and you can only acces it via an iphone, only iphone contracts have it.

It's not worth the £35 a month to me

Im curious about the 1.1.2 update, if itll fix the text mesage problem, whenever o2 text me I just get the blank message dated year 2000

Well no, thats what I said, I DON't see it happening.

Itll be a specific contract thing and wont just be available to every user. So unless your using the iphone plan, I wouldnt get your hopes up. Especially since its not been worked on for any us customers and theyve been at it since June! lol.

Itd be nice to just get some sort of notification when a message is waiting though, but who knows.

I tried every setting I could find on this and any other site to get EDGE to work, I have now just signed up for the O2 £15.00 per month - month by month package called Simplicity and I now have internet access and email working on the Mobile.o2.co.uk, username and passwork settings. I think this deal is quite good with the talk time etc. So to confirm - no luck until I went on this package now works perfectly.

Same deal I have, no simplicity, just the £7.50 bolt on.

Yeah visual voice mail will work.

The internet your getting now is the same as youll get on the iphone plan, only on the iphone plan it is unlimited. Depending on where you live determines the speed youll get EDGE at, its not too bad for me, about 10 seconds for apple.com

    lol yeah really!

But If you get the bolt on, im not sure how long 200mb will last lol. Make sure you have the services app installed, and turn off edge when your not using it.

How are you supposed to check your remaining mb? Just out of curiosity.

No, EDGE is EDGE, O2 have said theyre going to be making it better now though, since the iPhones and Blackberrys are planning to use it.

Its the web bolt on package. £7.50 a month, theres only one available.

As I'm on my iPhone I can't copy and paste the instructions for you. BUT I can give you instructions on how to get to the site. Type "Macrumors getting o2 edge working iPhone" in Google, click the top link, and follow the instructions.

As for your bluetooth, iphone bluetooth only supports bluetooth earpieces, so if your earpiece was used with another phone, make sure it's reset if so that it can be paired with your iphone. Devices other than brand new (unpaired) Bluetooth earpieces will not show up on the bluetooth screen.

these settings are for contract SIMs only, for pay and go settings, take the advice on the macrumors forums. (aka my directions)
