Update with ATT Sim CarD?

Say I activated my iphone with an att sim card...if i update it is it going to mess it up or is that only for phones that are using tmobile and such?

I jailbroke in mac with independence and have been using my att sim card from my other phone..i have only seen stuff about tmobile and other carriers messing up their iphones

There is no way to re-jailbreak the phone after the update yet so if you update you will not be able to activate the phone unless you use the original iphone sim with itunes
