openssh does drain your battery because it keeps a communication "port" open so that it can connect(when ur ready). But you don't have to remove the program, you can just turn it off/on with Uictl. =)
under apptapp you will find uictl, download it, restart your iphone, open uictl, scroll down to were it say "com.openssh.sshd, click on it, from the menu click "unload-w", click "do-it" , thats it. com.openssh.sshd should now be in red. To turn back on go through same steps and click "load-w" wahla
I agree with rx2mazda, I unload and load when needed, works great! However, be very very careful in the 'uictl' app, turning other things on and off can cause weird results! I only use 'uictl' to unload / load SSH.
