I wonder if you could get a balloon to come up when a new message arives like with SMS. Basically just leave the screen off but display a balloon with the number of new emails. This way you could turn on the phone and see if you had mail and how many without the whole "Slide to unlock" business.

It can be done i think..if you can get a programmer to rewrite the lockdownd file and put it here /usr/libexec/ ... not sure it'll work though.

Hrm.. I think that's just asking for a dead battery.. You're still going to need to manually lock it between use...

VUnlock in Cydia. Just push one of the volume buttons and the screen unlocks, even if the phone is asleep. I love it.

Do you know how much of an idiot you sound like by posting this? Conceded twat. By not saying what you think says quite enough about not only your opinion but your personality as well. If someone wants to disable the lock, what's it any of your business how good or bad an idea it is

Basically just leave the screen off but display a balloon with the number of new emails.
A lot of them are used for things like mathematical modelling of climate change, objects in space moving around another etc.
