Need Help With TV & Macbook Warning 56K

ok i got a hookup from hdmi to dvi to the apple hookup. anyways i have a 40" Samsung and ive been messing around with all settings and only get like half the screen of my tv to look decent but my question is is there anything i can do to get my desktop to stretch all the way across the screen and look proportional? instead of having black bars on all sides?

Check the overscan setting on the laptop and tv..

As well, alot of TV's don't do pixel for pixed display - so you may need to use SwitchResX app - google it.. lots of info and tutorials out there.

do not mirror displays. then slide the tine thin bar to the other screen within the display properties. this will allow your dock to move to the other monitor. hence, you have a HUGE monitor ( your TV )
