Default Easy way to edit text through out iPhone such as "slide to unlock"

I have been able to find the files for all the text in the iPhone through SSH, I believe it is called somehting like springboard.strings or something (not on my computer right now)

I also got a link for the orignial file. When I open it up it opens up in omnig outliner. Here I have the ability to edit what the text says. How do you save that with the same extension to put back in SSH program to replace the old file... When I try is says I cannot leave the extension in .strings and that it has to say .003 or .oo3.

    Anyone have any advice?
