iPhone and Cingular

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinions on my problem. I'm about to mod my iPhone to be able to use it with a Cingular/AT&T prepaid account but I was doubting about the programs I plan to use.

I downloaded iNdependence and plan to run jailbreak first and then Activation within iNdependence, I've received different responses regarding the phone being unlocked to use with prepaid sim cards after this, so I was wondering if you could give me your opinions to know if it will work and if you have any better suggestions/steps i'll be more than glad to hear them.

by the way I use a mac.

I didn't think it NEEDED to be unlocked to use AT&T prepaid? It IS AT&T already.

Yes, but it will only work with the sim card that comes with the phone, It wont work with a regular/prepaid sim card from at&t or cingular.
