    Question restoring iphone 1.1.1??!!

hi!! i have an iphone jailbroken and unlocked running firmware 1.1.1 and have been having a few problems with it! So i wanted to do a complete restore of the firmware and go ahead with it.. The iphone was firmware 1.0.1 or 1.0.2 out of the box ..
Now i was wondering in order to restore the firmware can i simply use the 1.1.1 firmware file in itunes, restore it and then proceed with jailbreaking and unlocking it...??
Or do i need to revirginize the iphone, downgrade it bak to 1.0.2 and then upgrade ??

The first method seems sooo much easier n less effort but just wanted to extra cautious n make sure before i screw this up ..plzzz help
