1.1.1 iphone stuck on silver apple logo
i was having trouble with my wi-fi connection, so i powered the phone off. when i turned it back on, it stayed stuck on the silver apple logo and hasn't changed since. i've tried manually restarting it several times. it will power off and on but it just stays stuck on the silver logo.
-FW 1.1.1, jailbroken (was originally 1.0.2 out of the box)
-iTunes 7.4.2 - recognizes, mounts, and syncs phone
-iNdependance - recognizes and connects to phone, displays currently-installed apps
it can successfully enter restore mode, but, as far as i can tell, itunes will not restore without upgrading the phone. is this safe to do? i don't want to lose my jailbroken 1.1.1 freedoms, if possible, but right now this incredible machine is just a brick.
what should i do???
any advice is appreciated - thanks in advanceLast edited by dm_hawk; 01-18-2008 at 09:23 PM.

Time to restore an re-jailbreak. Enjoy

Do not upgrade! Download the firmware and shift click upgrade to point itunes to the 1.1.1 firmware.Last edited by sziklassy; 01-18-2008 at 09:24 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Need to download 1.1.1 from our site. There is no specific place. Shift clock will bring up a screen asking which file you want. Select the 1.1.1 (wherever you put it) and you are good to go. DO NOT do 1.1.3 (you will be locked out for a while if you do this!)

damn! it won't restore. when i opened itunes with the iphone in restore mode, then tried clicked on "RESTORE," i got an error that said:
"THE IPHONE 'IPHONE' COULD NOT BE RESTORED. AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURRED (1603)."
i read a post from someone else who had the same issue with restoring, and remedied it by restarting the computer - that didn't work in my case. could it be because i'm running an older version of iTunes (7.4.2)?Last edited by dm_hawk; 01-18-2008 at 11:30 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

never mind... it had trouble restoring, so i updated itunes, then it upgraded to 1.1.3 automatically while restoring. now it works fine - IN JAIL.
[shift] + click on the "update" button in itunes to choose which firmware you'd like to restore with didn't work in my case, as itunes 7.6 updated the fw during the restore, and wouldn't have it any other way.
guess i'll just have to wait for the 1.1.3 jailbreak.

Or you could try this.
