    Default read-only file system error

I followed this article to the letter : http://iphone.macworld.com/2007/08/t...it_step_by.php

but at the point when i should be able to scp files over to my applications folder i always get an error that says "Read-only file system". I even did a restore and tried a second time but have had the exact same problem. I searched the forum but haven't found an answer, although I imagine it is in here somewhere. can someone offer me some advice/a link to an answer? much appreciated.

edit: if this helps anyone else, i was able to solve this problem by running chmod +x on scp in my /usr/bin folder, it turned out that several of the commands needed to be made executable still. i still ended up bricking the phone with Installer.app and having to do a full restore, but I did have Lights Out running for a wonderfull few minutes.
