Attention All Power PC Mac Users (All Non Intel Macs)!!!!
It seems like almost all of the forums that I look at. old school mac users (PPC, pre-Intel macs) feel like they got the short end of the stick when it comes to modding. I had success using iPHUC, and I was wondering how many other PPC-users did also. For the next couple of weeks we old-schoolers need to stick together and help each other out. I though that I would post a new thread for PPC macsters, so that we can help each other out, because we no longer have to miss out on all the fun! I'm not very good, but I have modded my phone and i'll help any PPC-user the best that I can so they can do the same, all I ask is that when you get it, help another. Good Luck!

I have it on fairly good authority that PPC users have good things to look forward to in the iPhone modding world...

This is the guide that I used to install iPHUC:
http://www.modmyi.com/wiki/index.php...g_iPHUC_iPhone
This Guide I used to install ringtones:
http://www.modmyi.com/wiki/index.php...e_installation
After you use iActivator to jailbreak the phone, start with step 14 on the ringtone guide. (the other steps are to jailbreak on an intel mac)
at first I could not get it to work, but after careful review it was my error. my suggestion is to read all the directions first then try it because if you miss a step it doesn't work, I thought that I was doing everything right, but I wasn't. I bet most people that don't get it right probably do the same. In the iPHUC guide there is an important step in red at the bottom, that's what I was doing wrong. after you run iPHUC type "ls" in terminal to check your work, post it and somebody will tell you if it looks right. By the way I see a new iPHUC PPC download, I used an older iPHUC, so I don't know if it's the same file or a different. hope that answers some of your questions, post em up if you have more.

One other thing to note is that, where that second guide says to type "./iPhoneInterface" in Step 15, you want to substitute "./iPhuc" as iPhuc is replacing iPhoneInterface for us PPC users. It may sound simple, but it certainly had me stumped for a while at 1am last night.

which files don't you have. In the iPHUC tutorial it has links to most of the files you need. check here for ones that you may not have like iActivator and mobile.h
http://www.modmyi.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=8
If it's other files you need you have to list them.

Ssh
Has anyone tried doing the SSH guide with a PPC mac yet?
If no one has can someone try it and reply to this post because I really want to enable ssh on my iPhone.
If someone could respond that would be great thanx

what step on the tutorial are you getting to before you get these errors? Not sure I can help, but the more you explain the more likely someone else can.

I don't mean to add more problems to a thread already about PPC iphone hacking problems, but when i try to install subversion using macports i get this error....

so I said f it, installed subversion using one of those new fangled installer dealies, got subversion running, downloaded iPHUC, but when i try to run the configure command i return a similar set of errors. I'm not really into this whole unix thing and don't know much of what to make of them. Any thoughts? (Besides buy a new machine...)

if your running os 10.4 which then download the one for 10.4:
http://svn.macports.org/repository/m...1.5.0-10.4.dmg
is this the one you used?
this is way beyond me, until poetic or some other person, who is a million times smarter than me comes in to help, I can really only say to check the versions that you are running to make sure they are the right ones. like mac ports has several files make sure you get the one that matches your operating system, I by no means can understand what the hell i'm doing, but I have tried enough times to where it becomes routine. I started this post in hopes that all PPC users who had success come help the others, so keep trying, check out other threads because I was stuck and found someone who had my same problem and somebody helped them and it worked for me too.Last edited by lilscrappydew25; 08-07-2007 at 10:46 PM. Yeah, thats the version of macports that's installed, but as i said before I get the same problem when i try to configure iphuc, after it's already been downloaded which leads me to believe it's something else. My knowledge here is scant, but this looks like it might be a problem with the readline library. When I try to install it from macports, it says it's already installed. Is there a way i can force an install from macports? or perhaps a manual install? Here's what happens when i try to configure iphuc. Thanks again for all your help.
