I've received the same error for a few weeks now - no word on the fix. It's a bit of a bummer.

Are you running the 10.4 or 10.3 version of MacPorts?

Can Someone PLEASE Start from the BEGINNING??
Hi, I used to actively post on MMi before and shortly after "iDay", but soon lost interest after seeing us PPC users get left behind in the dust as the Intel Macs played around with their beta test mods.
Luckily I found this thread, but now I'm even more confused.
Could somebody PLEASE take a minute and start from the very BEGINNING and tell me which mods and apps are usable on my G4 iMac? I don't know what most of the acronyms you guys are using even stand for, let alone which mods I can do. I'm decently Mac savvy, but have very little experience in programming language or even Terminal. A brief glossary would help, i.e what "skinning"means and what each iPhone hacking program specifically does.
It would be nice to share the fun you guys are having... you're discussing things like possible video conferencing and I don't even have custom ringtones yet!
Thanks in advance for the help!!

trying to install iPHUC
downloaded the appropriate xtools and macports.
everything was fine up until installing subversion. It gets this far, and then I'm stopped here:
"kory-ellis-powerbook58:~ koryellis$ sudo port install subversion
Password:

---> Attempting to fetch sqlite-3.4.2.tar.gz from http://svn.macports.org/repository/m...nloads/sqlite3
Error: Target org.macports.fetch returned: fetch failed

"
is there any way I can manually download this file or something? Anyone else experiencing this? any help would be appreciated
also. I have a weird seemingly unsolvable problem with iphoneinstaller. I installed it via a jailbreak with iactivator. everything was fine. then my phone wouldn't connect ot iactivator anymore. and I wound up restoring it through itunes. reconnected to iactivator, jailbreak, and run ./get_installer.sh. enter in my firmware version.. and it gets to:
0 Looking for iPhone...
1 Sending Files...
and tells me to hold the sleep/hold til the 'connect to itunes' comes up, which I do. but once here, nothing happens! It'll stay on the itunes screen for hours with nothing else popping up in terminal. If I hold the sleep to restart it it'll give me the "you're going ot have to hold it longer than that buddy!" message. And I've tried everythign I can think of. Reinstalling iactivator/themacports/redownloading installer and the folder with the firmware files. restarting the iphone. the computer. using different computers. I just tried a brand new computer with no iphone mod files or anything from scratch and the same thing just happened. It's very frustrating/depressing as I got a taste of my first iphone modifications and now all hope is seemingly lost! please help me 0_0
I just tried to install iPHUC on the fresh new computer as well and got stuck at the same part in fetching sqlite-3.4.2.tar.gz

holy crap, almost there CROSSES FINGERS...
so what is the FINAL step after you add the tunes you want to your ringtone directory...
...just...restart?
.....scared/excited...FINALLY RINGTONES
cash, i just sent my phone back to jail with the iActivator, and i went to the ringtones area of settings on my phone, and the new ringtones are no there. do you know why this is?
I know the ringtones are there, because when i typed "ls" to check what was in the new directory we all created "Ringtones", the files are there.
so why is the phone not looking in that directory to get new tones?
ag, i've tried reinstalling the tones several times, its driving me batty.
anyone else have this problem? bueller?

I just wanted to say thank you to lilscrappydew and cash--- i got the ringtones to load quickly and easily using cyberduck, which i think is probably as good as we're going to get in terms of a "GUI".
amazing---yay ppc!Last edited by linnytrap; 08-22-2007 at 09:19 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I was hoping that someone would put together PPC guides when I started this thread, to answer your questions for PPC users I know that you can do the following:
Ringtones
skins
NES
Installer.app
Launcher.app
Doom
Finder
there's probably much more, but I can only speak on what I've added to my phone. Before PPC users throw in the towel, try this link. it helped me so in the spirit of this thread I want to pass it on
http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=743
I think that this may be a little easier for people to follow, it worked for me twice (had to reinstall after updating firmware, big mistake). Just make sure if it works for you that you come back and post here so that others can get it too. keep trying everybody!

is this your settings
1. protocol: SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer)
2. port 22
3 server: are you looking in your wifi settings on your phone for the correct IP address
4. username: root, password: dottie
5. when connected to cyberduck are you adding them in:
sftp://Your IP/Library/Ringtones
i bookmark all the places i in cyberduck where i add files for convenience
try that if you still have problems you can try Fugu, its like cyberduck, just google it.

After many weeks of trying every PPC fix available, the Installer.app from Nullriver worked like a charm. SSH through Cyberduck was also a breeze once I reverted to dynamic IP. Huzzah!

I'm still having SSH connection issues. I've installed open ssh and all via the installer.. but I just can't seem to make a connection via fugu or cyberduck.. if anyone would mind helping me out I'd really appreciate it. email=[email protected] aim=jujubeanser

The binaries are available as a pack in our downloads section. You can put them on using your favorite iPhone file browser...
