I'm very grateful for all the coding work and such that's been done, and particularly grateful for iPHUC which seems to work on both PPC and Intel machines.
It took me 3 tries to get through the
How_to_Escape_Jail procedure, but it finally was successful and I have com.apple.afc2 there now.
Prior to iPHUC, the other tools had complete instructions on using the iPhoneInterface tool and the .jailbreak tool separately, but it's kind of confusing now on where to go from here. Bless them and their coding, but once one finishes reading the Install doc for iPHUC, supposedly we're ready to go with modding, but no one has really taken the existing docs and either taken out obsolete references to the old tools, or taken the iPHUC doc into ringtones or wallpapers or apps. I've read the help, the READMEs and they all seem to go in circles. I can use iPHUC to connect my PPC Mac to the phone and see some directory structure, but when i setafc com.apple.afc2, everything stops and there appear to be no files there. I know something's missing, but the docs don't seem to follow much order or there's a part I'm overlooking.
I'm certainly willing to help draft docs, but I have to understand what we're doing and do it successfully before I can help. And I certainly mean no disrepect to those early pioneers who wrote the iPhoneInterface, Jailbreak and earlier tools, but if they're obsolete, shouldn't they be taken down, and documents that refer to them adjusted or taken down?
