help with reset!!!!

Ok, so I downloaded iFuntastic and used it first to change around my icons and add some ringtones. Worked great. Then I used the Iphoneinterface and Jailbreak to add the Gunmetal Icons, which worked great except when I got to the last step, which is the restore deal, it said error. So now, here is where Im at

My phone has the gunmetal background, but when I hook it up to iTunes, it just says iPhone can not connect to iTunes because an unknown error occured 0xE8000022.

So now, I just want to restore the phone without using iTunes, reload it with all of my stuff, and solely use iFuntastic. The terminal stuff is too complex for me.

So, how do I restore this thing since it wont read in iTunes?

Sounds like you just forgot to put the Services.plist file back on there after modding. Just pop it on now, and you should be fine.

But when I do the steps, I get an AFC error and it won't accept anything after I do ./jailbreak So how can I put it back on. Here is what I get...

Welcome to Darwin!
macbook:~ simon$ chmod u+x /Users/simon/phonedmg/installipb.pl
macbook:~ simon$ cd phonedmg
macbook:~/phonedmg simon$ ./jailbreak

Sorry, apparently things just didn't work out.
Look on the bright side, if jail was that good for Paris maybe you should give it a second chance.

AFC error means you didn't put that file back on, and now aren't going to be able to unless you have already enabled SFTP, in which case you can just use that. Otherwise, you're going to have to restore.

Ok, enabling SFTP does that require a lot of modding? Is that something a beginner can handle? Or am I better off just restoring? Thank you.

If you already have AFC errors, you can't do it now. You would have had to already done so.

Ok, this is strating to get ***...

I did a full restore and got my phone syncing with iTunes then I created a skin using iSkinner and installed the .ipb file on my phone.

I did all the steps, STEP BY STEP, and it loaded the theme on my phone no problem. I go to sync with iTunes today and I get that error 0xE8000022 and it won't sync.

Here are the steps I did to install the .ipb file, please let me know where I went wrong.

1. chmod u+x /Users/simonrzenno/phonedmg/installipb.pl

2.Shutdown iTunes & Helper in Activity Monitor

3. cd phonedmg

4. ./jailbreak

5. ./installipb.pl SI2.ipb

6. ./iPhoneInterface

7. cd /System/Library/Lockdown

8. rmdir Services.plist

9. putfile Services.plist

10. exit

11. Hold Down Power and Reset until Apple Logo Appears

Hmm. Somehow, your phone is not getting rejailed. Are you getting any errors in Terminal when you do the cd to the Lockdown directory? What version of firmware are you using?

I do not get any errors whatsoever. Where can I find out what version I am using?

i believe you have to ...give it a *lockdown* command...i havent tethered into my fone yet..cuz i have other means of getting what i want onto it....but i saw a post while bak going thru the steps...and at the end..i think he typed something with a LOCKDOWN..in it..and it *rejailed* it so itunes can see it.

just look up a set of commands you can use. or installing themes via ftp. and u might find what your looking for

No, you're doing the right thing. cd'ing to lockdown directory and rmdir then putfile'ing the Services.plist should fix it.

This IS in OS X, right? Can you paste your Terminal session in here?
