Default New to iPhone, how safe is it with itunes & leopard?

I have followed all the tutorials here (I can't thank all you guys who posted em enough) I know have a brand new fresh out the box iPhone.
I have yet to put a new sim in as I am on Three in UK and will have to switch networks. (anyone knows who does the best deal on sim only for 500 mins a month?)

The big question is how safe is it now to connect and sync to my Itunes etc I have Macbook Pro (PPC) running Leopard and a Mac Pro (Intel) running 10.4.10
Is there anything I have to watch out for being automatic updates etc? I don't want it becoming a brand new Brick.

Any help or advice mucho appreciated

great site I couldn't have done it without this place.

iTunes asks for your permission to update, it doesn't do it automatically. As far as iTunes knows, your iPhone is legit, so it won't do anything harmful.
