now one tiny thing. itunes reads a 300 MB hard drive...did i do something wrong?

Yup, you did. You didn't put the Services.plist file back on after modding. Open up iphoneinteface again, and do an ls (and return). If you see the Applications directory, etc, then issue the following commands:

cd /System/Library/Lockdown/
putfile Services.plist

Then restart the phone.
