confused about modding in 1.1.1

i just recently heard about being able to mod in 1.1.1 so i looked up on this site. it seems theres so many different ways to do this. i have a 1.0.2 iphone with installer and such. what exactly do you need to do to mod in 1.1.1, do i just update to 1.1.1, and then follow the steps? thanks for the help.

Well put it in dfu mode upgrade to 1.1.1 use the no computer required method which will install appsnapp get afp or ssh working and mod your iphone files
