I've stayed on 1.0.2 with my modded phone. It has a ton of files on it, etc. but has never been unlocked. Is there a 100% guarantee that it doesn't brick if I follow the 1.1.1 jailbreak/update? I know that some people had their iPhones get bricked upon the 1.1.1 update, even though they had never unlocked it.
You should NOT upgrade a modded 1.0.2, I tried several times and failed each time. I recommend to everyone that you plan on performing a RESTORE to either 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. to get your phone prepped and ready to go.
Hey Cybergreg. I Just went to restore my phone back to "factory" 1.0.2 settings before upgrading to 1.1.1. But it won't let me restore without also doing the upgrade. Should I go ahead and do this. I never unlocked cause i'm fine with at&t..Just don't want to brick my phone. Thanks.

I've unlocked my iphone using the 1.0.2 OSX method and ive later decided to stick with at&t after all.
How can i upgrade to 1.1.1 without losing my contacts?
