Pwnage problem

Hi all. I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere, I couldn't find anything on it.

Per the wiki, I downloaded the 1.1.4 .ipsw restore file from the link in the wiki (http://www.modmyi.com/forums/downloa...o=file&id=2231).

Problem is, when Leopard downloads it it unzips it to an abbreviated name: "iPhone1,1_1".

Now, when I select "Browse .ipsw" from the Pwnage Tool leaving the unzipped file named as is, all I can do is browse into the unzipped file. There is nothing with a .ipsw to select.

I renamed the file to "iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw" and when I browse to that I get:

2008-04-08 00:51:42 - Loaded .ipsw file from '/Users/Chris/Desktop/iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw'.
2008-04-08 00:51:42 - Can't recognize version of .ipsw file.

I tried compressing the renamed file and opening it up through Pwnage Tool and get the same error.

I've downloaded the .ipsw twice now (from the wiki source) and come up with the same results. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

Edited to add: I'm on 10.5.2. Dunno if that's relevant.

UPDATE: I got around this by downloading the restore file via iTunes and pulling it out of ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates. I'd still like to know what was up with the wiki download if anyone has any ideas. Thanks again.

Stuffit or some other archive manager program wasn't downloading the file, was it? Just a thought...

nothing's wrong with the wiki download. you just don't want to decompress it, and if it does it automatically, it's been stated/mentioned that the original .ipsw file would be in trash

If you are using Safari it will do that for some reason. If you download it with FireFox you will not have a problem.

there is a setting in preferences for safari to NOT open safe files after downloading. After its downloaded, just rename it and delete the .zip off the end of it
