While browsing around in the iTunes Preference Panel—something I haven’t done in a while—I noticed that there is a section of preferences for the iPhone. And in there is a list of the iPhones that are backed up onto a particular computer.
iPhone Backup Panel
The word “Backup” caught my eye. It makes sense that iTunes can back a phone up so that if you have to replace it or reset it, you can be back to where you were in no time flat. Intrigued, I went hunting about and promptly found that it backs up data to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup. Neat.
