[RELEASE] Fallout 3 Pipboy 3000 Theme in 4 (now 5) colors

Here is my Fallout Pipboy 3000 Theme(s). I did the Pipboy 2500 Theme a little while back before fallout 3 came out, but these are completely different and looks a lot like the actual in-game pipboy and even comes in the four colors you can choose in game: Green, Amber, White and Blue. (4 separate themes and 4 separate add-on packages).

Features:
-Sizable set of vault-boy images to use as icons. There are a bunch of icons already set of course, but odds are good you'll want to grab the extra icons and set them up for your own apps using mobile finder or some other method. there is a text file in the root of the theme that you can read to see which images were used for the existing icon set. Might be handy.

-Animated scanline wallpaper. This is cool and is used by default, but it does drain the battery slightly. I have included in the root of each theme "Wallpaper Scan.html" and "Wallpaper Noscan.html". If you ever want to turn the scan off (or back on), delete "Wallpaper.html", then copy/paste/rename to "Wallpaper.html" the html file you want to use.

-moderately themed UI. In addition to the springboard being themed, I tossed some extra crap in as well. The loupe, the sms balloons/background, battery, ui popups buttons and some other stuff. This is by no means a complete revamp and as such I strongly recommend using these themes on top of Steffwiz's Ultimate Black theme which is awesome.

To find the red variant it is on page 2, click here.

Very nicely done. The scanline is a great touch. With the addon packages, I can see this theme staying on my phone for a while.

I don't see any of those Keyboard images in the UIimages section of any of those themes. Ditto the FSO_CARRIER_IPOD being missing, although I suppose one can take the FSO_CARRIER_ATT file and just rename it.

very nice theme and perhaps the one i was looking for except the little boys. Can you make another one without boys and perhaps some Neon-like simple icons which will look cool on green background and also neon battery and cool sound.
Thanks

Jarlath you're right. Copy the FSO_CARRIER_ATT image and rename it. I forgot about the 'touch users.

The keyboard images come from using Steffwiz's Ultimate Black theme underneath these ones.

The vault boy images were extracted directly from the fallout 3 resource files on the pc and they're sort of the whole point of the theme. Its not like I drew them myself (theres 400 of them) and I don't think I'm going to draw a new non-pipboy set from scratch. You might want to grab the add-on package and look through it though because a subset of those 400 images are the pictures that were used for inventory items and they don't have the vault boy in them. (like the envelope).

edit: He's also not really a 'little boy'... That just makes the theme sound creepy. He's the advertising mascot for vault-tec: Vault Boy - Fallout Wiki - The Vault

Actually mudlark I had a bit of question since a few screenshots are missing from the UIimages thread right now...

I was wondering if you could tell me what the 'New' and 'What's Hot' UIimage names were from the below picture. What I'm trying to do is make the selected tab the existing green, and the non-selected tab a lighter green, rather than the blue it is right now. This may be treated as a request if you are so inclined, but the name will do just as fine. Thanks.

Sorry I missed your post. I really can't say for sure which image that is, but it looks like UINavigationBarMiniDefaultButton. There's a bunch that look very similar though so I dunno. Just color all of those images differently and see which one it is.

How do you install?

I've just recently jailbroken my iPhone, and I'm wondering how do you exactly install this theme? I used QuickPwn to jailbreak it, if that helps any.

Ok I got the theme installed lol. Are you going to develop any more like add-on packs? because it kinda sucks when some apps aren't themed and they REALLY stand out. I love the theme though, nice work

also, what theme did you get to allow you to have 5 apps in the home row?

It is not really possible or worth the time for any theme to keep up with every single app that comes out, which is why I did not even try. What I did was provide enough icons for you to apply to your own set of apps. When you download the theme and the addon packs, you have over 400 icons that you can go through and use for your particular selection of apps. I've explained this a number of times to folks that have asked over email and I'll put the instructions in here too.

First you'll need some method of accessing the iPhone's filesystem. You can either connect the phone to your pc and use something like iphonebrowser to access the phone's file system over the usb cable, or you could use a program like winscp or some other ftp application to communicate using ssh over a wifi network. There are other methods as well depending on if you use a mac or a windows pc. Also, you can use mobileterminal to modify the filesystem directly from the iphone itself.

To set up icons for your apps, you will need to navigate the filesystem from the root to /Library/Themes/Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 <color>.Theme/Icons/

<color> will be either White Blue Green Red or Amber.

Inside the Icons directory you will see a bunch of png files. These files have the same name as the apps on the springboard. By this I mean that the filename before the png extension will be exactly the same as the springboard name. The icon for Orb is called OrbLive.png, The icon for dtunes us called dTunes.png. (caps are important).

The Icons dir already has 70 or so icons for a variety of apps that you may or may not have. If you aren't using some of these icons because you don't have the apps, just change their filenames to an app you are using.

The addon packs have another 400 or so icons in them. These are not set up to match any specific apps. In fact, the icons in the addon packs still have the filenames from the Fallout 3 game. This may or may not help you find icons that you remember from the game. You are meant to go through them, pick the ones you want for your apps and copy the files to your Icons directory and rename them with your app names. You can find the addon pack icons in this directory from the root: /User/extras/Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 <color>.Pipboys/

<color> will be either White Blue Green Red or Amber.

Once you modify your app icons, respring and you should see it take effect.

I assume you have winterboard installed. If not get it on cydia, it is required to use the theme.

The easiest way to install this theme is probably to download it from cydia as well. Cydia will place the theme(s) in the correct location so that all you need to do is open winterboard and select it.

If you want to install the theme(s) manually using winscp, grab the zip files that you want from the initial post. There are 8 zip files above. 4 color themes and 4 color packages of extra icon images. If you wanted to install the green theme for instance, you would download
Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Green.theme.zip
and
Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Green.Pipboys.zip

Unzip the theme zip file keeping the paths intact and you will have a folder called "Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Green.theme"

To install the theme, all you need to do is open winscp and browse to the root of your iphone/ipod touch. Go into the folder called Library, then go into the folder called Themes. Drag the "Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Green.theme" into the Themes folder, and you're done. The theme will now appear in your winterboard theme menu, just pick it and you should be good.

Before you do that however, you might want to configure the icons in theme. This is easier when you have the theme on your pc.

Unzip the Pipboys zip file keeping the paths intact and you will have a folder called "Fallout Pip-Boy 3000 Green.Pipboys". This folder contains a ton of extra icon png files you can use for app icons. Use my previous post above for instructions on how to modify/rearrange/configure the theme's icons for your particular selection of apps. When you're done, drag the theme to your iphone and enable it in winterboard.

Not positive what you're asking, but maybe its what jarlath said above:

...the FSO_CARRIER_IPOD being missing, although I suppose one can take the FSO_CARRIER_ATT file and just rename it.

The FSO_CARRIER_ATT image is the one you see in the pics. To have it show up on the touch, just copy it and rename it FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.
