PDF/DOC/XLS/JPG/GIF/PNG Viewer (Based on Safari+Lighttpd)
Here is latest version of the script originally posted by -V-O-Y-A-G-E-R-.
Check the original post for instruction guide (http://www.modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52021)
To use this improved version, just follow the instructions in the above thread, then replace the old files with the updated files attached below (Extract the ".dirlist" folder to "/private/var/root/Sites/").
==================
History
==================
Version 1.5.1 (Apr 19, 2008)
* fixed a bug where folders/files with spaces in their name cannot be hyperlinked (sorry about this)
Version 1.5 (Apr 19, 2008)
+ added support for ".htm", ".html" and ".php" files
+ added experimental support for ".mp3" and ".mp4" files
Version 1.32 (Apr 5, 2008)
* fixed a bug where folders containing the "+" character fails to open
* fixed a bug where changing the orientation of Safari messes up the font size
Version 1.31 (Apr 3, 2008)
+ added icon for ".jpeg" files (in addition to ".jpg" files)
* added a space between icon and filename
* ignored the case of the file extension (".JpG", ".JPG", ".jpg" are the same)
Version 1.3 (Mar 31, 2008)
+ added icon for txt files
* increased thumbnail size and removed the filenames for photos (coz filenames are generally not important for photos)
* fixed a minor bug about hyperlinks
* renamed apple-touch-icon.png to favicon.png
Version 1.2 (Mar 30, 2008)
+ icons support - for PDF/DOC/XLS/folder, icons are shown; for JPG/GIF/PNG, picture preview are shown.
Version 1.1 (Mar 27, 2008)
* the original script fails to enter directory/file which contains the "#" character in directory name or filename
* when the length of file/dir is too long, the ">" at the right of the line get overlapped. now it's fixed.
+ the original script only shows 127.0.0.1 as the root folder name. i've added a constant in the script that allows the user to customize the name. i preset it as "Library"
+ web clip icon support. just put an icon named "apple-touch-icon.png" in the ".dirlist" folder (or use the one i attached). and try to add the web page to the home screen
+ the page auto scroll to hide the address bar of safari (only if the length of the list of files reached a full screen of safari)Last edited by kane.lai; 04-19-2008 at 10:53 AM.

Do you mind changing "apple-touch-icon.png" into "favicon.png", to go along with web standards?

version 1.3 now
probably someone could draw a beautiful default favicon for us to put in the package??
maybe it'd be better to have a picture of a drawer/bookshelf/others??Last edited by kane.lai; 03-31-2008 at 08:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I noticed that if extension is in CAPS LOCK, the icon doesn't show. Is it a bug or just me?

Could you also make a space between icon and a filename. It's tight a bit right now
Off to update package.

Neat!

What kind of icon you mentioned? As favicon or for showing next to Library title?

haha..what the JPEG icon meant should be thumbnail, but not icon. that means, now JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG are recognized as photos

Is there a way to disable the Image icon previews?
I just uploaded my DCIM folder from my camera to the Sites folder and locked up my phone trying to browse my photos folder. It displayed the image list, and then started parsing the icon thumbnails and then the progress spinner in the tool bar stopped spinning. Had to home button+power button to restart
I have about 30 photos in this directory and they're only about 1024x768 resolution. I've used this method before without fail in the previous versions.
Thanks!

Thank you for all your efforts!
I just tried the new version, and although it looks fantastic, it crashes my safari if there are <20 pictures in my photos folder.
Is there a section in the CSS I can edit to set "img { display: none }" for the thumbnail previews? Its the only thing crashing my iPhone, other than that this works great.Last edited by x999x; 04-04-2008 at 06:34 PM.

Thanks for the update, things are back to normal and its working like a charm. I wish I knew why Safari crashes with the icon preview on for folders with many jpegs, perhaps its just a limitation in the App or the hardware.
One thing to note, I'm on a mac and I could not see the .dirlist file inside the updated zip file you posted. By default mac hides folders with a "." at the start of their name, unfortunately. In any case I just used the "go" feature to navigate to the folder directly and copied the updated php and css over.
Works perfectly, thanks again!
