PdaNet won't start up now
Hi. I had PdaNet Free 4.18 which worked fine for me. Yesterday, I updated it to 4.20 (updated to 4.19, but I didn't use it until after I updated to 4.20) and found that I could not use the program any longer. The error reads "PdaNet Wifi Router need to be initialized first. Please restart your iPhone." I have tried to restart my iPhone by respring and by reboot only to yield the same error message. I have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted with no luck. I have changed a file mentioned for previous versions to change the permission file from 644 to 664 to see if it would help and it did not. Does anyone have a solution to initialize the wifi router?
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat... any fix to this error?

Same problem. I posted error report via junefabrics.com and via cydia email. Also sent screen print. I noticed that the error code changed every time I started it. Also it did not get captured in Crash Reporter.

I have a register version and it's also not working. Email them to see what's going on. Wish I didn't upgrade...

My junefabrics pdanet is also registered/paid. Perhaps if more users paid, they could afford to do QA.

I am having the same problem too. I updated it in Cydia, and now it doesn't work. I spent money on this, I want it to work. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

entered support ticket (June Fabrics Support) but not hopeful this will get resolved soon as message after entering support says:
"Due to tremendous popularity of the PdaNet software we are currently experiencing shortage in technical support resources. As a result we may not be able to respond some support requests if we do not have a solution for them. We sincerely appologize for that. Please follow the Help link to browse through a list of FAQs."
Guess I better start looking for alternative in case this goes away.I don't drink kool-Aid, I don't join cults.

Hiya All,
I managed to downgrade mine back to 4.18 from the 4.2 and its working again, its running on a limera1n broken iphone 3gs so may or may not work on other devices.
- Firstly remove pdanet from your packages via Cydia and exit cydia and reboot your device.
- After reboot start WINSCP or similar program and access your iphone/ ipod, once connected find and access root folder "private/var/mobile" you should be able to see a file called "PdaNet_4.18.deb" select this file and delete it! Once deleted, Yet again reboot your iphone/ipod.
- Now head over to this URL and download the 4.18.deb file again (BTW all my antiviruses were going nuts but no virus was found but be careful)
http://www.fileupster.com/files/S17L...daNet_4.18.deb
after going to this site i chose the hotfile server and regular download but yet again your choice and at your own risk but i did NOT have any probs. DO NOT INSTALL VIA WINSCP AT THIS POINT
- Restart Cydia and search for PDANET again via search icon in bottom right hand corner of cydia (can be from Xsellize or Cydia NO DIFFERENCE)
- After install yet again reboot device
- Once your iphone is up and running again, connect your phone to PC or similar via winSCP and copy the DEB file you just downloaded back to the root folder "private/var/mobile"
- Lastly open up the terminal app within winSCP by either clicking the icon on the top bar or by press ctrl+T once the terminal is open type in the following exactly dpkg -i PdaNet_4.18.deb and once again enjoy your pdanet 4.18 (I didnt reboot at the end i tested it first so results may vary) please let me know if this has helped at all. I'm sorry but mmi does not condone the talk of piracy at all. Please remove that from your post.

Well funily enough everyone seems to be moaning and I have actually paid and I only recommend this to people who have paid for the app via cydia as I don't support piracy either but I do support getting things that people have paid for working again

See I just need PDAnet for the iPad, so I can my iPhone to connect to it. I really don't want to pay for MyWy since I already for PDAnet
Is there a way to do the above process with Mac
They fixed it up with an update, now how do I reclaim my serial number? I am back at the free edition.Last edited by thegame45; 01-20-2011 at 06:18 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
