multifl0w - Pre-like multitasking video released (in Cydia soon)
Multifl0w is a Palm Pre-like multitasking interface for the iPhone/iPod Touch. (jailbreak only!). The idea was inspired by the Palm Pre multitasking interface and a video posted by Ocean Observations that showed a Coverflow-like interface. A video of multifl0w is here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrGLGoB88So]YouTube - Multifl0w: iPhone multitasking interface[/ame].
Multifl0w is somewhat like Kirikae in that they are both interfaces for the Backgrounder app. If you haven’t seen backgrounder or Kirikae already, I’d recommend checking them out on Cydia. They are both great programs by ashikase.
Multifl0w should be in the Cydia store within a few days, keep tabs on multifl0w.com for updates!

Update: Got a few requests for a shorter video, not a bad idea. Here it is:

that looks nicer than kirikae, but this would be even better if you could quit the app from multiflow, like how you swipe up in the pre

Do you have to enable backgrounder in each app before you start mutlifl0w? Or can you just enable it within multifl0w like Kirikae? I think Kirikae is so useful because it acts as an external toggle as well as gives you access to apps that are running in the background.

Just add the trigger that initiates the background event to your multipane interface and you'll be set for a great success.

OH MY GOD I have said this was a good idea for MONTHS!!!
Suggestions:
• Some sort of background rather than that black one. (Seems too plain and empty to me; possibly LockBackground.jpg?)
• Swipe up to quit like stated above
• More of a "snagging" on each appshot like when switching through tabs in Safari
• Round the edges of the appshots just a lil bit
• Keep the multifl0w screen up while the apps switch out behind it (would make it look smoother, in my opinion), then maybe a zoom effect? I think that would look REALLY cool!
• DROP SHADOWS!!!Last edited by n00neimp0rtant; 11-20-2009 at 11:40 PM.

Just tried this app (I had to install RockApp which i had heard up and down things about but it actually seems very slick and have no issues)
Very very impressed so far. It smooth scrolling between backgrounded apps and i do not notice much memory usage or CPU usage. The concept is the best thing I have seen for the iPhone in a long time. All these lockscreen mods, etc are nice but this has the potential to be a killer app. I love backgrounder with my 3GS but managing open apps is not great (obviously this is handled by separate apps like Kir. but many of us want this to be like Palm pre which has a great implementation of multi tasking)
A couple notes:
1) When i first installed, my mail app would keep crashing. A quick respring fixed the problem. May just be my phone but an FYI nonetheless.
2) Whether i respring or restart my phone, the mail app - after i click on it once to bring it up - still appear as just text label (no icon). All other apps appear with their snapshot. I have to kill the mail process in SBSS and then reopen to get a snapshot to appear (I just saw the developer tweet about this but not sure i understand)
So far no bugs found other then the above. I am curious whether its possible to have the actual background snapshots as live images, so for example if i am using slingbox, i can multifl0w and see whats going on on the slingbox. I know its not in this release but curious if its even possible.
Keep up the great work and i will be buying this app.

As for now I'm using the trail. But I do bot expect to buy it quite yet
for one I hate buying apps out of Rock, I would much rather cydia
also I would really like to see more features seen in kirikae. Namely the abilliry to quit apps.
It would Aldo be awesome to see ui inprovments
over all it seems like an amazing app! Great work! Can't wait to see updates.
Edit: I will be buying this app for sure in the near future!!!Sent from my iPad

I think having live background snapshots would be a LIL to much for even the 3gs. But it would be nice.

I don't see why live snapshots would be a problem... after all, the iPhone is still rendering everything that's going on, it's just not showing it at the time. I don't think it would cause much extra lag, especially on the 3GS.
I just installed the RockApp to try out this program, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. It still has a long way to go before I leave Kirikae.Last edited by Blax; 11-23-2009 at 04:05 AM.

Looks like a great app so far. But I'll have to second the request to add the ability to quit an app from within Multifl0w. There are definitely pros and cons to both this app and Kirikae (a nice graphical list versus a quick text list), but the ability to quickly quit an app from Kirikae is the biggest differentiator for me at this point, and will probably keep me from purchasing Multifl0w until they add it.

FYI possible conflict i am looking into..
When I have multifl0w enabled and enable 3g Restrictor, my mail app will not open. It keeps crashing - not crashing the SB but the app crashes and will not open. Obviously i have other mobilesubstrate addons enabled but this is the clear trigger.

Looks really good. I'm looking forward to the finished product and will definitely buy it from the Cydia store when it's ready.
What about putting a little red X (close) badge on the top-left corner of each preview pane? And then when the X is tapped, the app is closed in the background and the windows on either side slide together. That would make it tie in nicely with the iPhone UI, I think.

Strange, I have Multifl0w and 3g Unrestrictor along with numerous MS addons. I was running Phone,Mail, Safari, Calc, Messages and Facebook without a hitch. Also using Stimpy's VM hack, so plenty of mem.

Im glad to hear that all you guys are enjoying this cool tweak... I wish I could, but it gives me no screenshots... All I get is a black overlay and little text labels, and a couple apps will give me an icon.
No idea what i'm doing wrong or what may be conflicting with it... im no noob, and I cant figure it out!Praise the Devs! To each and every one of you who spend your time writing code and making apps for little or no profit... Its YOU that makes the iPhone great, NOT Apple!! From me to you, a million thanks!!
