Tv recorder app?

I know nothing about creating apps so sorry if this is so far beyond the iPhones capabilities.

Would it be possible to somehow connect the iPhone to a tv/VCR/DVR and have an app record a tv show to the phone?

You should buy a slingbox, hook it up to your dvr, then get slingplayer for iPhone. Also be sure to get 3G Unrestrictor, so you can watch your slingbox over 3G.

I do this, and it's heavenly.
