I just got my MMS to work on 2g. At first, I could only send MMS but not receive any, an error that a few users in this thread also experienced. I don't believe that problem was directly and specifically addressed. I first tried the MMS settings provided by T-Mobile's help webpage:

    Camera Phone Picture Messaging Settings

This settings listed on this webpage only allowed me to send MMS. Thankfully, I changed my APN settings to

    Cellular Data
    APN - wap.voicestream.com
    Username -
    Password -

    MMS
    APN - wap.voicestream.com
    Username -
    Password -
    MMSC - http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy - 216.155.165.050:8080

After adjusting to these settings, I can finally both send and receive MMS. Checking my T-Mobile online account confirms that T-Mobile records my picture messages as MMS and not as internet data. These adjusted APN settings are shared by those posted by Thepogcbr900rr and SuperVee3.

Just like most others, I have also seen that sending MMS seems slow, stalling a little bit at the 80-90% mark. Keep in mind that pictures are bigger files than simple text messages, so you should expect some extra wait time than you would normally expect. Hope this helps

Fix For Low Quality Tmobile MMS Images

Download the approppiate file, the first is for epc.tmobile.com as the internet apn and wap as MMS apn.

the second file is for the internet2.voicestream.com as the internet apn and wap as MMS apn

    ***Ipcc settings for epc.tmobile.com***

    ***Ipcc settings for internet2.voicestream.com***

all credit goes to ironicirony over on modmyi

just download, unzip, upload via itunes and enjoy your hi-res pics!

    EDIT:
To be able to install ipcc in the latest version of itunes:

Mac – open a terminal and type in..
defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

Windows – goto- Start, then run Or at command prompt:
    Type :
    “CProgram Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
(with the quotes and then push enter)

after that all you need to do it shift + update (alt +update for mac) in iTunes and select the correct ipcc file

Thanks to colmiak for the info at xsellize.

i got tired of settings not sticking, or pic quality being bad, and what i did was:

    1) put a movistar sim (movistar and claro are oficial carriers in argentina) in my 2g.
    2) using ssh, i went to the carrier bundle that was symlinked now, and copied it to my macbook (could have done it on my pc, but i had to convert the plist from binary to xml and i didnt remember how i used to do that :P)
    3) examine my "custom" carrier bundle (personal has no carrier bundle, so i had one made by myself) and the actual movistar one.
    4) copy the missing things (about mms, and a 2nd apn in the apn section), replacing the info form movistar, with the one for personal.
    5) the movistar bundle had a "phone profile" ( that last setting, url something, that identifies your phone), for the iphone, FROM APPLE, so i used that too.
    6) replace my old custom bundle, with the newly moddified one

    now all works fine :P

ive read many solutions to getting MMS2g running,
.i use Tmobile smart phone unlimited data plan (internet2.voicestream.com)
i was not able to get MMS to send/recieve with that APN
when i used (wap.voicestream.com) i was able to send my self mms, sent one to my sprint phone and got nothing
....im wondering if by using wap.voicestream.com will it affect my tmobile account??????

    Default Internet or MMS

@alexes559 Which server you use for mms/internet doesn't affect your plan or charges. It will keep you from having full internet though. the wap.voicestream.com server for internet is not full EDGE service so it will be slow, if it works at all for internet. the internet2.voicestream.com server will work for internet, but not for MMS.

the fix here should, in theory do exactly what we want. It makes the Cellular Data APN internet2.voicestream.com and the MMS APN wap.voicestream.com, but it doesn't seem to work exactly as expected, maybe because of some other "fixes" I've applied previously.

EDIT: Okay, it's working now but taking 5 minutes to send. May be because of crappy EDGE connection. This process (installing Carrier bundle through Cydia) seems to be the fix everyone is looking for, though I may still need some tweeking on my part to speed things up.

    So:

Go into Cydia and search for t-mobile (make sure you have the apc.modmyi.com repo installed). Look for the T-Mobile Postpaid/Flexpaid Legacy 1.0.5.3 and install

    Respring

check the settings, but you might have to change them to those listed on the T-Mobile Website:
APN (set by the install you just did to wap.voicestream.com)
    Username: [blank]
    Password: [blank]
    MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50 (I have ":8080" put on the end to set the port too)
    MMS Max Message size: [blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: ( also set by the install you just did)

it's working for me, though slowly. Anyone know why it's slow?

I'm trying to get this to work on my iPhone 2G on AT&T. Whenever I hit send it ends up with a red exclamation point next to the pic because it failed. Do I need to switch to a media.net plan? If so how?

make sure to put wap.voicestream.com when you are building the profile and then once it's done go back to change the regular APN to whatever you need it to be

One of the most common questions that has not been given a clear answer with evidence is:

WILL ActivateMMS2G WORK WITHOUT A DATA PLAN?

    Thank you

No, u need Edge or 3G data network. MMS does not work over Wifi.

There may be an app in the spp store that would help you out...

You do not need a data INTERNET plan in order to send MMS using your iPhone 2g with the activatemms2g hack. You can either pay $0.20+ for each MMS message you send or have a data TEXT MESSAGING plan. I personally sent MMS through T-Mobile with my unlimited texting plan. I checked my T-Mobile online account to make sure that I was not charged extra for data internet usage. As expected, T-Mobile correctly recorded my MMS messages under MMS, thus not charging me more since I have the unlimited text plan.

Let me know if you need further explanation or what not.

Disclosure: I stopped using the hack because it decreased my iPhone 2g's battery life by a ton.

No, this does not work with 3.1 and may crash your phone if you install it and cause you to restore/re-jailbreak
