weDict
This nifty app is a multilingual dictionary that supports startdict dictionaries. Also many dictionaries are pre packaged and ready to install via installer (thanks STE).
Available via installer and <a href="http://guohongtao.googlepages.com/weDict.zip" target="_blank">their site .</a> <a href="http://modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4336&highlight=dictionary" target="_blank">More info </a>

HELP!!!!
This new version broke on my iPhone - I can't access the old dictionaries now - get "not Found" on words.
Uninstalled it all & tried to reinstall - same result.
Using the Installer app from Nullriver - installed as part of iFuntastic unshackle - that all went fine - been going to town on apps & all was fine til this happened - really LOVE weDict though.
Can anyone direct me to doc on installer & a process to clean this all up? It seems the space remaining stays the same after unstalling so that makes me believe they don't clean out apps very well so that a reinstall would work properly.
Any ideas?
Thanks...Last edited by mpheery3; 09-19-2007 at 07:46 AM.

When i ran the update my dictionaries didnt work either. I reset my phone then uninstalled the old dictionaries through in the installer app, and re-downloaded now they work fine

Thanks for that info - you're the lucky one. so the new functionality with Pronounce works for you?
I'm still getting "Not Found!" after doing what you recommend as well.
I've been in communication with the STE packaging guy who says that he had the same problems with it as me & has been in contact with hte developers - trying to get it resolved or revert back to previous release of weDict.
I'll update here when we know more.

I wish there were a way to only install additional sources once the related application is installed.
So my Installer.app would NOT list all of the dictionaries, only the actual Dictionary app, once I install that...THEN install the sources!
Anybody agree with me on this!?

New v0.4.1 is on installer.app. It fixed the stupid "not found" problem, and should work fine now.

I'm trying to add other dictionaries from Stardict. However, everytime I get to the step where I have to rename .dz to .gz and then extract, I get an error message, saying I am unable to extract because the file is corrupted. This happens for all dictionaries I download from the Stardict website. I'm on a PC, using WinRAR. Can anyone help me?
EDIT: I figured it out. I downloaded WinZip instead. Works like a charm!Last edited by enigmanic; 09-19-2007 at 03:33 PM.

I thought the new version didn't read the old databases, but the truth is that you can choose the dbases, tap the "i" button and you'll see.
See ya.

For a bit of background; This was created by a Japanese author, who also made a vocabulary library of about 21,000 words with the proper English pronunciation presumably when learning English. If you do a thread search, there's a link to the audio library, which is about 200MB. Once loaded into your iPhone, and you click on the speaker icon, it will pronounce the word you're looking up (if its in the library).
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

A gift for those who are as lazy as I am usually... I'm brazenly appropriating the following paragraphs from elsewhere on the internet...
Just go here to download the sound files:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...irror=easynews
Unzip and copy the WyabdcRealPeopleTTS folder to the following directory on your iphone:
/var/root/Library/weDict
Unfortunately the file is huge (over 200MB), so I wouldn't recommend loading it unless you have enough space on your iphone.Last edited by Randy; 12-20-2007 at 06:17 AM.
