Glad I have winter tires! I thought the old version had a lot of potential. Adding voice is another step in the right direction.

So has anyone actually gone out and used it?
What are some pros and cons? How is the reception and the accuracy?
If people say it works well, I might have to re-jailbreak my iPhone for the 4th time.

Ive used teh previous version and it works well enough. The glitches I found so far, and remember this is a BETA so there are glitches.
1- cannot find directions based upon current location. However you can bookmark locations to use later.
2 - If you make a wrong turn the app does not recalculate or even pick up where you left off. It just stops.
It is quite accurate though otherwise.
I havent looked at the new version yet so p[erhaps some of these things have been worked out.
EDIT:
Just looked through the settings on teh new version that came out today. Apparently there si a toggle for recalculating directions inteh event of a wrong turn and it also seemed to be able to calculate a route using "current location" however I did not actually drive that route.

Are you using 1.1 beta?
I am trying 1.2 and it corrects both of the things you mentioned...
But I am not getting any voice prompts...even enabling English as the language per instruction....
Anyone else.

There are a couple of minor voice glitches here and there, though nothing serious. For instance, US 301 should be pronounced as "YOU ESS 301", not "us 301."
The night vision mode is nice, too.

Works great after a reset. Has anyone been able to set driving direction to a POI after a search?
EDIT: This is how you do it:
1. Press the search key on the main page and choose driving directions.
2. In the top left click Manager, then choose Create new route.
3. Click start point and choose your current position
4. Click end point and choose Location/place
5. Search for what you want and choose it
6. Name the route and your doneLast edited by StealthBravo; 03-02-2009 at 04:58 PM.

Busy downloading the maps over my local area atm. This seems very cool, especially for a beta!

Looking good. Previously downloaded maps won't work, but not a big deal.
Thanks for the nice update

Yeah, I thought the text to speech wasn't working till I held the speaker right up to my ear.

Anyway to change the voice? Or is Steven Hawking my only choice?
