"Dial 911"
Well...I won't be using it since I had to call the police once in my life and wouldn't want to accidentally press this or have the little kids press it. I guess it would be good for people that are usually in the wrong spots at the wrong time though.

But the proof of concept could be applied to putting favorite numbers on your springboard. That might not be a half-bad idea.

I agree. The proof of concept.
This is it. There's proof, in the concept.
Now if only we could implement this...as a proof of concept.

I actually love this app - I use my iPhone as a Pocket Macintosh meaning no cell phone service - but 911 is the one number that no service iPhones can call - this makes it really easy during an emergency to call 911.

I'm just baffled at this comment. I've called 911 a few times. Once was when a horrendous wreck happened right before my eyes on the highway...I wasn't involved but I witnessed. Another time my co-worker was having a seizure. Thirdly, another co-worker was having a heart attack. I'm pretty sure I don't deserve to be shot for that.

I happen to be a paramedic, and people call 911 all day long, and for damn good reasons...
Obviously you're "******* retarded", you'll need it one day too I'm sure...

Dial 9-1-1 Now that's practical! (I am not being facetious)

Thats nice how you have to tap it twice for it to call. No accidental 9-1-1 calls.

I would actually love to see this in a slightly different way.
..."Dialer.app" launches into a directory. You pick the group that you want (or have groups directly on the springboard) and then certain numbers inside. I have lists of numbers that I need to call, and close to 200 contacts. I really don't like looking through the list. How can there not be a contact filter? Riddle me that.
