This looks to be another case of someone either saying something was to be released by a certain date and then simply not doing so or confusion as to who is going to have access to the 1.2 release if it's even released on the 20th.
I just don't understand why people even bother giving a release date for things unless they know 100% for sure they're going to have it ready.
Just to create hype?
In any case I'm not holding my breath.
I'm removing the app. for now (it's not all the exciting in it's current state) and will wait and see when and if a more polished version ever comes out for the general public.
I've got navigation built into my car to tie me over.

- No there will be no release for tomorrow.
- Yes the TRAC website is up to date (if you look at the Timeline it is updated almost every day!)
- Yes the release date appearing on TRAC for the 1.2 milestone is wrong :-). It is the "at the latest" date.
Sorry for the delays but we want to include some feature which are really necessary for this release so it will delay up the release.

people are reading this site Roadmap – xGPS and getting their info from there. It did say a release was set for this week but that changed. The program producer never really promised anything, except that it would be out at some point.

That post isn't from the developer, the initial post in the thread is.
I guess I somehow misunderstood expected the 20th of February.

In the official xGPS forums, I think one of the developers said that it was delayed until March because they are trying to iron out all of the bugs that have popped up.
Personally, I think now would be a good time to release a sort of 1.2 pre-release beta to everyone so that we can at least see where things are at. Just saying..
I was kinda excited too, since around the 20th i would have to start commuting out of town for school. I need this app badly! I might get lost!
Here's the link to the reasoning for the delay.

Announcing a release date in advance is always risky.
They're now saying 9/3/09 'at the latest.
Note, that date is in UK format - let's hope it doesn't slip to US format

You're downloading 1.1, right? 1.2 won't be released until next month
Oh and I know this is the xgps forum, but if you are looking for something comparable to xgps 1.1 (no voice directions) this app in the app store seems to be getting ok reviews. Turn by Turn available in app store (via MacRumors)Last edited by muncle; 02-20-2009 at 09:48 AM.

Well, hopefully only another 2 weeks... I'd used lots of GPS programs on "smart WM phones" in the past and some were decent at best. Hopefully, this program will be polished and bug free. A buggy GPS program is a huge headache. GPS tends to be something people rely upon, and this program is free. I applaud the developers for painstakingly creating this for all our enjoyment and utility.
