Thread: New task Manger

New task Manger
There's a new Task Manger out. Its in Chinese, but its way better than any other task manger for the iphone. You can see all tasks running and kill each task, or kill a bunch to clear your ram.
grab it here:
91 Process Management
Translated version of http://sj.91.com/iphone/soft/show.php?f_id=2339
its a pxl file (blast from the past)
rename it to zip an un-compress it.
copy the MemTool.app dir to the applications dir (not mobile/applications).
Edit the PkgScript\Postflight file, change chmod -R root /Applications/MemTool.app to chown -R root /Applications/MemTool.app (theres a typo in the file!)
Copy the PkgScript\Postflight file (not the PkgScript folder) to /private/var/root/Media/
SSH in and run
/private/var/root/Media/Postflight
I know this is a pain, but I think the app is worth it!
Here's some screen shots:

No SBsettings only shows the 4 main tasks, mail, phone, music, safari. It also does not show how much memory each one is taking.
This one shows every task, how much memory each one is taking, which ones are essential(cant kill)and you can kill each task.
Its great to see whats running on your system (like ssh, sftp etc)and you can kill it if you don't need it running.
And shows how much spring board is taking, so you can try out spingboard changes and see how much memory they eat.
its pretty simple to even though its in Chinese.
I hope apple comes out with iPhone pro with more Ram, 128 does not last long!
they should come out with a 512mb/1gig ram one and virtualize the memory for each app (no app should take more that 40mb)Last edited by peteo; 01-23-2009 at 10:54 AM.

This is my second time checking this page out and I am very excited for this app. I would also have to second the idea for a translation. I cant offer much, but Someone would have my gratitude if they were able to translate this app. I have been waiting for this since 1.1.4 and SysInfo.
Thanks,

and how do you make the app apear in springboard ?
pd: acording to peteo´s info, you could easily photoshop (or even "paint" :P ) the icons that are in the skin folder, to have some english info there.
edit: ok, i installed something in cydia and it apeared (maybe i had to respring instead of reboot :P )
adding text to the images isnt pretty cause the white chinese text overlapts it, but its better than not having it.
COOL INFO
just remove the .lproj or whatever its called folder from memtool.app and it wont display chinese at al (exept in the more section, where the chinese is in the images themselves, and not in the localization files).
cool info
am i not great ?

English virsion!
just unzip the folder and copy 'English.lproj' to '/Applications/MemTool.app/' and delete the old 'zh_CN.lproj' folder.
English.zip

Postflight is a shell script which needs execute (+x) permissions to run.
Just before running '/private/var/root/Media/Postflight' ---
--- Use SSH/Properties to set the Owner "X" box of /private/var/root/Media/Postflight,
--- then run /private/var/root/Media/Postflight as described.

Nice find. Thanks for the app.
Ive repacked the entire package (app, english.lproj, and postflight file) into one zip for an easier install....
Follow the previously mentioned steps found in this thread or just read the ReadMe file.

Sometimes it takes a respring or reboot, or in the worst case, install another Cydia app to appear.
