Enable app you want to view on screen, launch app, then plug cable into device, should appear on screen. Tried on Photos.app and iPod, just ability to scroll but not select anything. Probably at this point, just good for apps that use accelerometer to control app.
Good step though.
I'm using the AV vables for the orig iPod with my iPhone, got from BestBuy.Last edited by SiLeNtKiLLa; 01-18-2009 at 08:46 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I tried this and couldn't get of to work at all. In addition now my regular movies have problems with Device not compatible Airplane Mode even after uninstalling. Ugg A reboot might return everything to normal until playing & starting/stopping several times the the message pops up. Hope a complete restore isn't necessary. Uggg.
Looking forward to something like this...but my experience was terrible.
Update: Something is amiss. My iPhone has frozen 3 times, entered Safe Mode twice (1st time seeing Safe Mode since 2.2), and the last time, it completely rearranged the springboard app icons. It's restore time

i like the concept, it works okay for me. Tried it in the car and maps comes up looking good. just wish i could still see the display on the phone as well because trying to guess where to tap on the phone trying to get directions would be a tad too difficult.

Tried this last night but could not get it to work. Does it need FW2.2 or is FW2.1 enough?
Edit: Well I got it to work, you have to launch the app you want to see on your tv first and then plug in the cable.
This app is still buggy but thanks to the dev anyway good work. Hope to see it even get better after upgrades.Last edited by iBlade; 01-18-2009 at 11:51 AM.

I've tried using this with apps like Trace, Jellycar, and Mxtube, but only the sound seems to work. I can't understand why I'm not getting any video. Any advice?

The photos app can be used with A/V without this new TVOut app.
I got it to work with all the apps I tired, but like others have said, you can only view it on the TV screen which makes it difficult to use the app that you have running. It's a great idea, but this definitely needs some tweaking. Landscape mode would be nice (for using iMobileCinema on Safari) and being able to see it on the TV and the iPhone screen is needed. Can't wait til it works even better!

wow, this app seems to be working pretty well for me! unfortunately, i'm still running into an error since it's a 3rd party cable. it works for a while, but as soon as the "this accessory is not made..." window pops up, it stops working.

great idea! sadly, its in beta and (at least in my experience) it shows. It crashed my phone about 3 times and had no picture on the phone, coupled with sound, but no picture on the tv either at times. Anyhow, ill be lookin for the updates. good luck everyone

here's a photo of it working with cycorder on my iphone:
Can your iPhone do this? :-) on TwitPic
after playing around with it a bit, here's some conclusions with this beta:
• i cannot get it to work with the camera app
• it drains the battery incredibly quick
• it only shows apps on your springboard. in other words, if you are using categories, it will NOT show apps within categories
• it's still very buggy (as expected in an early beta)
• if an app is landscape, it appears sideways on the TVLast edited by billchase2; 01-19-2009 at 09:15 PM.

billchase2:
I agree with most of your conclusions, but you can make it work with Categories, with a little effort:
- Remove the desired app from Categories
- add the app in TVOut
- Re-add it to Categories, and it will still work
The one app I really wanted it to work with was PhotoShow. While it does function, the pictures are only iPhone resolution (and it doesn't upscale them) so it's not really too exciting for that purpose.

Don't want to hijack this thread but there is a new app out on cydia called ScreenSplitr. Check it out. Does the same and more.
