What exactly does it do? I'd rather not just download random apps to be honest...

I believe its a Mapping software with turn-by-turn driving directions using Xwaves' GPS that does not require internet connection to work.

Every time I try to get directions it tells me that it could not find directions for this query. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm using a 3G iPhone using built in GPS and Google maps. I see where you can download maps and I did download some on the iPhone but it still doesn't work. Do you have to download the maps? Is there a better way to download and put them in your phone then straight from the phone?

Same with DirtyBird, everything works except for the actual 'Directions' Part!

xGPS works with the following GPS accessory...https://www.orangegadgets.com/shop/p...e8a7a41bb4b0e8.
This is the link to the forum for the software...xGPS - GPS for iPhone / iPod touch
This is the link to the status of the current work on the next version...Roadmap – xGPS – Trac
Now it does work well now but is still in the very early stages of being a complete GPS. I use it around town but would not rely on it if I was heading on a long trip or going camping. The developer seems to be dedicated to continually improving it so just keep checking the forum and see what is happening.

I think the problem with this release is that the current position does not work in the States. Try using the full address on both.

Tested it last night on a trip to pick a friend up at the airport. Worked great. If you are in the US make sure you turn off "recalculate route" If you have it enabled it will give you a wrong way message and then cancel your directions. Also, do not use the start at "current location" Right now it isn't supporting that. You have to type in the starting and ending location. I'm using a 3G with the built in GPS. It was very accurate as far as route but the speedometer was a little off at times. It would jump +/- 5 mph at times but if you take the average it was pretty on.
After using it there are a couple functions I would like to see.
1. Be able to use "current location"
2. Be able to flip the start/end locations.
3. Larger text directions.
4. Text to speech for the directions.
5. Be able to recalculate directions if off route.
Checking on the xGPS forum I know they are working on some of these things and I'm anxiously awaiting an update. I highly recommend this app for what it does right now. It will be much better with future updates I'm sure.Dirty as I wanna be!

I like it! With the ability to download map data via computer or on-the-fly! The speed thingie bothers me as well, but seems to be a problem with others. Motion-X GPS and another free AppStore apps also have problems with speed. Now I wonder if that's an AppleGPS problem.
Side note: Did not realize map data was so -huge- !!!
