I was trying to figure this out as well. Even when I removed dTunes, Terminal didn't remove.

What program would you use to download the torrent if you delete Terminal?

Well..I wasn't going to use the torrent crap in dTunes. I got my PC to help with torrent downloads I just need this to go away. There's a TouchTerm in appstore which is so much better if you want to use the torrent feature.

+2 I as well get the same issue, I also installed bossprefs and changed directory permissions and used CD ~ beforehand and still nothing, the same issue. I've run out of ideas.

Ok I just figured it out, the torrents are being saved as numbers like 1, 2 etc. no file extension. You need to edit the file and add the .torrent on the end of the file then it will start downloading. I used ssh to access my iphone and change the file extension. There has to be an easier way to do this. Does anyone know of a way to edit these files directly using the iphone????

After you have downloaded a torrent file in dTunes it will appear in the browser.

Normally it will appear as "whatever.torrent". If this is the case then just tap it in the Browser tab inside dTunes and you will see a popup saying the file has been prepared.

If however the Safari download plugin has downloaded the file as "111111" but with no file extension you should rename it in dTunes prior to preparing.

To do this go into the Browser tab
Click Edit
Double tap the file
Rename the file (with the extension of "torrent"
Click Save
Then tap the file "111111.torrent" - it should now display the popup message

Only after seeing this popup message should you open Terminal and enter "./gettorrent"

Remember:
1) Terminal works in the background so you can press home after starting and check on it later
2) If you need to exit half way through that is fine. Just press Q followed by Y
3) To resume a download go back into Terminal and type "./gettorrent"
Note: This will only resume if you have not prepared another file and overwritten the original
4) After it is finished just press Q followed by Y
5) If you are worried that you might still be seeding - just reboot your iPhone / iPod - this shouldn't be necessary though

Finally, if you're still having problems ensure Open SSL is installed through Cydia.

Oh, and if you want to remove the Terminal icon just hide it using BossPrefs

After you've done it once it should be very easy.

Hope this helps.

I just want to express my gratitude and thanks, I tried your editing solution and it rocks. Thanks Again and by the way I did have open SSL installed. I believe that installed with mobile terminal at the same time I installed Dtunes.

I think this will answer the main issues people are having with this app.

Also I have one tiny issue I tried editing the default torrent site and it wont update. I can type it into the area and it will stay but when I restart Dtunes it always starts with piratebay. Is there a place I can manually edit besides the settings/torrent section? As this does not seem to work.

A suggestion for the author (add and make certain torrent sites selectable as default with a radio button in addition to manual edit such as Demonoid.com and others) just list the most popular 4-5?

Thanks Again

Can anyone help me with Terminal?

When I am downloading a torrent and I quit Terminal sometimes the download dissapears it doesn't all the time for some reason. When I return to terminal I just end up with the main screen saying iPhone:~mobile$

Is there anyway resume the download because I find my self always have to restart it again using the ./gettorrent command again.

Is there something that I have to press before I exit or is it just a bug in the system that is causing it to stop?

I think the problem is with Terminal and available memory.

I'm guessing you are exiting Terminal just by pressing the Home button? When you return to Terminal it probably doesn't have enough free memory to reopen the current active session and so quits the one in memory and restarts a fresh Terminal session.

I would recommend you reboot your iPhone before starting a Torrent so that you have plenty of free memory.

Note: When you retype ./gettorrent it should just carry on from where you last got up to - it will not begin downloading again from the start.

ah i think you are right yeah terminal sometimes quits on me taking me back to iPhone:~mobile$ usually I have terminal going I have my music playing and be getting calls/sms's it's probably just not being able to cope with it all.

I did notice today when it is downloading the info line displays 100/700/700 0M,0M | (download speed). I think I understand it a little better now. The 0M,0M part is only the session downloads because it quit on my again today at about 30M,0M and when I used the command ./gettorrents it started back up with 0M,0M but the file was still a part of the way through becuase it started up as 100/700/700 as apposed to 0/700/700 when you first start the file.

If that makes sence at all..

New to Dtunes

I'm new to dtunes... I've downloaded the torrent I want and it seems to be stuck on [11/709/709].

What would I need or use the SSH/SSl for? I thought this app was used to download and unzip all from the iphone, then view it immediately.

Can anyone help?

Note about renaming to torrent

Simply renaming the torrent didnt work. I had to type "torrent" into the file type section when editing the torrent name. Then clicking it in the browse section gave me a pop up. Thanks for the idea of renaming.
