As I requested, please report any bugs to the official forum. This issue has already been reported and a workaround posted:

osu! - Login

Note, if you get the "Downloaded file does not appear to be a zip file..." error when downloading a beatmap, the permissions of the /var/mobile/Documents should be changed to 777 or the owner should be changed to the "mobile" user. After changing that, please remove the osu folder from the /var/mobile/Documents directory and restart osu!.

does somebody knows if osu is compatible with the new 2.2.1 firmware?

I have a iPod Touch running firmware version 2.2 . I installed Osu and it completed fine but when i try to run it i get "The application "Osu" cannot be opened". First time I've ever seen that. Does anyone have an idea of how or why this is happening and how i can fix it if possible.

Yes, it's compatible. I'm using it right now with the 2.2.1 firmware.
