SBSettings (BossPrefs replacement) Beta Test
I have posted SBSettings v0.90 for public beta at my site. SBSettings is targeted to replace BossPrefs and I plan to develop it instead.
Here is a screenshot of the beta:

The toggles drop down when you swipe along the status bar. It is very fast and can be used while in any app without exiting the app. Suppose you are in Safari but realize your 3g is not yet enabled. Simple! Just swipe the statusbar and tap 3g and resume in safari where you left off. No need to exit safari and load settings or bossprefs.
Like bossprefs, this will have an addon module so you can create your own addons and also an application component that will be launched with the little settings button (see top right of the screenshots) to let you do things like hide icons and all the other cool things BossPrefs currently does. We are also planning to add some other cool features.
If anyone is interested in beta testing this, I have prepared some beta test deb files for install. The install steps are a bit complicated even for debs because there are multiple dependencies and dpkg doesn't handle this without apt so you have to follow the steps. If you are interested, please jump over to my post on it, grab the debs, follow the instructions, and then post a comment over there for feedback. Note, I probably will not come check this thread for comments so please post your comments on the post link at my site if you believe there are issues or you believe this is ready for a wider spread beta inside Cydia. You can grab the beta and instructions here: SBSettings Beta v0.90 | iPhone News, Help and Guides-BigBoss
Please do not send me messages here as I never check them. If you need to contact me, send me an email. My contact info is easy to find from inside Cydia.

Great app dude. I like that it slides in over whatever your doing. I hope to see the toggles (on/off) a la BossPrefs as an option in the future. This is pretty sweet thus far!!
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

This works very well, thanks bigboss! Skrew had a similar app on v114, but it never got ported over, so this is great.
v0.90b installed fine for me, but v0.91b seems to have a problem installing:
- from Cydia I get: 1 Broken Packages. The following packages have unmet dependencies: SBSettings
- then I downloaded the deb file from bigboss, and this is what I get:
iPhone-3G:/tmp root# dpkg -i sbsettings_0.91b.deb
(Reading database ... 9389 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace sbsettings 0.90b (using sbsettings_0.91b.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement sbsettings ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of sbsettings:
sbsettings depends on sbsettingstoggles; however:
Package sbsettingstoggles is not installed.
dpkg: error processing sbsettings (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
sbsettings
iPhone-3G:/tmp root#
Anyone else get this?
Seems to be working now - maybe apt-get update did the trick...Last edited by jrentzke; 10-27-2008 at 05:42 AM.

Yeah man, i had the same problem, this is what I posted on BigBoss's Blog, this is how I got around it below:
So I tried to install it via CYDIA one more time, and I got the same error.
SBSettings wasn’t showing up in CYDIA automatically, so I’ve had to search for it manually in CYDIA to install it.
So this time, when I started to type in its name I noticed “SBSToggles” and “SBSettings” were both appearing in the options to download. So I downloaded SBSToggles first, and then tried to SBSettings after that, and it worked!
So for some reason on CYDIA (mine atleast) it wanted the toggles downloaded first then the settings.
I noticed some other people were having this issue above, hopefully this resolves it for you guys.

Been using this all day. Works flawlessly so far. I don't turn off my Edge so I'm not getting any problems.
"Thanks" button. Learn it. Use it. Love it.

Great job BigBoss, it's like having access to BossPrefs while in any app.
Is there a brightness setting in this app?
I'd still miss the Apple like interface from BossPrefs though..

Weird thing: I often suffer trough my lock screen freezing. It is extremely annoying.
But, when I use this app, it appears over the frozen lock screen and I can click the "X" to dismiss it, but when it goes away, I can't slide to unlock. Does this help explain to any devs what could be causing my lockscreen to freeze*?
* It freezes much more often when I have to use the "official" iphone charger, and not my Logic3 dock.

I can't wait for it to have the hidden application dock that BossPrefs currently has.

Awesome app!
One suggestion: Could we possibly slide it CLOSED as well, instead of having to click that small X button? Or maybe make the X a bit bigger? I find I often miss it. Maybe it's because I have fat thumbs :P

I found out you can scroll down the statusbar to make SBS appear! If only it had a brightness control and you can scroll it back up.
