3rd Party Apps forum reorganization
All right, this forum is getting waaay out of hand now that the 3rd party apps are really taking off. Its time we reorganized this forum.
I was thinking one forum for new app launches, another for support, and another one for development questions/comments/discussions. Any comments?

sounds like a good idea. I can't think of any other categories you would need.

u hit the nail on the head with the forum titles.
would new app launches fall under the app updates also?

I would love it if the developers would post information about the app or updates so we know things like the wallpaper being darkened with the new version of Summerboard, for example.Various 'Books old and new

Yah, I think so. I think New App Launches, we can just update each thread when a new version comes out. Its not like we don't all know anyway, every time we open Installer.app it tells us.

Installer really should have a "New" tab at the top since it doesnt really tell you about new apps that have been added since the last time Installer was open. Neither "Featured" nor the green stars are used for that purpose.Various 'Books old and new

Maybe do a chit chat section in the 3rd party apps area too, that way there is a place to discuss things spurring off of conversations in the other forums.

If there weren't five threads for every new app this wouldn't be a problem.

Agreed. Now that the forums have been created, I will be merging new release threads with the original release threads.

Uhh... I love the clutter.

Considering the rate they are coming out (maybe this already exists) but a catalog (under support I guess ) of who the apps come from , what they do. I don't want to install via installer app only to find out I don't need it or have conflicts ( and would like warm fuzzy on knowing who comes from).I don't drink kool-Aid, I don't join cults.
This is why I break out in cold sweat going to Apple retail store.

The way I am envisioning it, each time an app comes out, it will get a "launch" thread, which gives basically what you are describing - a brief description, author, etc. Then comments can be made in that thread about it. Support, discussion, etc, can be in the support forum.
We'll see how it goes.

i dont know if your trying to say what i was invisioning. but i was (or at least what i interpreded LGgeeks post to be) invisioning a thread for each of the Sources from Installer.app. Each app that comes out for Null. river, Conceited Soft. and Ste Pack will be filled under thoose three threads. Does that make any sense?????
09-04-2007, 06:44 PM #19
Yah, except those sources are not the authors. SOMETIMES they are, but generally they are just the packager for a developer.

What about just compiling a sticky of all the current software and links to the sites. And whenever you or other mods can update it, do so..???
It sounds a lot easier to manage and deal with.
