Anyone else notice severe battery usage when leaving this app run when phone is locked?
Also my comp speakers go nuts all the time now, lol.

EXTREME battery usage running this and dock 2.0
I think I know why apple didn't include IM....."The glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall."

The Chat websites also hit your battery pretty hard.
Remember Apollo and mChat have to frequently hit the server to check for messages, buddy list status, etc. Don't want that, then disconnect. The relity of the matter is that, unless they programmers implement the same kind of battery saving methods that FlickIM uses, leaving iChat running in the background all the time your battery life will suck. You might as well complain that watching videos all the time drains the battery.

Mine worked while running in background. Sound and vibrate.

Apollo doesn't work most of the time for me. When I touch a screen name (to send a message) it closes down and sends me to the homescreen. Anyone know a fix for this?

I have no idea. Just installed it and signed on. Is there more to it?

I like ApolloIM but it doesn't play nicely with the Dock. If you're in ApolloIM and try to use the Dock to switch to Safari, it hangs for a few, then crashes (though it does switch to Safari). Then you have to sign back in when you go back to ApolloIM.

Well I discovered something interesting and emailed the developer with it.
Seems the program continues to crash when I touch a screen name, in order to IM. BUT, if that person goes to "away" status, I can IM without a problem. If that same person returns active, I can still IM them. No crash.
But again, if I sign on and a person is active, i get a crash instantly when I touch the screen to try sending IM.
BTW, the developer did get back to me very quickly. Great response. Hopefully this can be fixed. Thanks A S
If anyone else found a fix for this please let us know.
09-11-2007, 09:06 PM #38Sound/Vibrate IM Notification Stops Working
The Sound/Vibrate IM Notification stops working when you don't use your phone for over a couple minutes. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a NATIVE iPhone App for Instant Messaging. If I didn't care about IM notifications, I would just use a web based IM service like the one found at Beejive..
On another note, anyone know when ApolloIM will offer Jabber/XMPP support???

it'd be awesome if this had msn support.
