Which IM application uses the least amount of battery

Hey guys, I am trying to figure out which IM application uses the least amount of battery. I would like to keep it running in the background and I am trying to figure out which one to use? Does anyone know which program would be the best to use? I dont care if the program has to be boughten or not, since I already bought most of the IM programs anyways lol. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BeeJive works after you close it. Their servers keep you logged in for up to 24 hours and that timer resets every time you log in.

They will push an email or SMS to you telling you that you received a new message even when the program is closed.

No other program will do this. Mobilechat is supposed to but, thats an epic failure.

This is a complex question as simple as it seems. BeeJive may cost the most amount of money, In my opinion slightly over priced but worth the hype, and like bbplayer5 states includes push E-Mail / SMS notifications (Which can be used to save battery). However when running in theory you would assume for the AIM network for example the applications would use the same amount of battery (ex. BeeJive, AIM, Palringo all connected to the AIM network only). However that is my speculation, but I personally think makes logical sense.

some keep more data loaded though... for example beejive keeps pictures and such loaded where as an application like fring does not.

Yes, but you would think BeeJive would cache the pictures after loading them once and refresh them periodically.

sziklassy is the only one that really understood this question. I believe he's asking which app will use the least amount of battery, because he plans on it running in the background via Backgrounder, like we had done with Agile Messenger on 1.x.x.

Therefore, BeeJive's feature to keep you logged in is irrelevant, and has nothing to do with battery life while it's running.

This is an interesting question, and although sziklassy is on the right path by looking to how much data the app is processing, there are other factors, like the code itself, which will determine battery life of an app. I would assume the quickest and least flashy app would use the least amount of battery, perhaps MobileChat. Although an above poster characterized it as an epic fail, the developers are currently rebuilding the servers from the ground up to fix all problems, and are optimistic of success within a week or so. The app seems very simple and probably doesn't process a lot of information, thus leading me to believe it might have the least affect on battery life. Look to when the servers are all fixed, and keep an eye on their blog: twenty08
