I made an alternate SNReminder.caf file, because I wasn't too fond of the beep that Status Notifier uses now as the reminder sound. I just figured I would post it here in case someone else wanted it. Its from the Windows Vista Ultimate Pearl Sound Scheme.
Just unzip and then SSH SNReminder.caf into '/System/Library/Audio/UISounds'. Make sure to backup the SNReminder.caf that is in there now, in case you want to change it back. I just renamed mine to SNReminder.caf.bak.Last edited by dieburnbot; 10-08-2008 at 01:20 PM.

There is no voicemail alert in the 2.7 version, for whatever reason. The icon dissapeared from the package also... it didnt work in the earlier version anyway.
I think there must be some conflict (or NO difference) between a missed call and voicemail notifications in terms of the iPhone OS. This makes sense as to why when I have a missed call and a voicemail from the same incoming call, it shows (2) on my phone icon.
For the record, the ''other'' notifier program doesn't show separate alerts for missed calls and voicemail either. I just replaced my missed call icons with voicemail icons.
Nothing happens for my calendar alerts either.Last edited by TheOnlyest; 10-08-2008 at 04:09 PM.

It's really easy to install. I am not sure if you are on windows or mac, but it should be similar.
First SSH the .deb file to your phone in any directory, but I would put it in / just to make it easy.
In Windows you need to download PuTTY (PuTTY: A Free Telnet/SSH Client) in order to get command line SSH access to the phone. If you are on mac I think you have terminal built in so you don't need to do this step. I'm not familiar with mac so I can't really help if you are on mac.
Anyway, after you install PuTTY start it up and in the main page where it says Host Name or (IP address) type in your phone's IP address, same as when you use SSH. It'll bring up a prompt type in root and alpine for the login name and password (if you didn't change them). I think on mac you have to do command-space, Terminal, enter. Then type ssh root@'your phone's ip-address' and the rest of the directions should be the same.
Then it will bring you to a prompt.
type in cd /
and then type dir
make sure you see the .deb in there, if you do that means you are in the correct directory.
now type dpkg -i nameoffile.deb
and it'll install just like in Cydia
After it is done just close PuTTY and reboot your phone. You can SSH into your phone and delete the .deb file from / if you want.Last edited by dieburnbot; 12-01-2008 at 05:52 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I am noticing a possible bug in Status Notifier 0.2.8. When my phone is locked, and I get a mail notification it beeps once to remind me about a second after my phone's default notification and then it stops beeping. The only way it will beep/remind me again is if I unlock the phone. Is anyone else having this problem? It kind of defeats the purpose of having a reminder if it only works when your phone is unlocked.
EDIT: I reinstalled it 3 times and it seems to be working for now. We'll see.

the major thing stopping me from using this instead of Notifier is that Status Notifier requires installation of Winterboard.
Please please recode it so that it does NOT need Winterboard (which kills battery) and then you will get a LOT more users
