I recently saw the Rename app on cydia and thought it was quite cool. So I have downloaded and installed it but I have a doubt which I wanted cleared.

After renaming the apps does cydia/installer/appstore still show new updates to those apps? Will they still recognize the renamed apps as existing on the device?

This question comes to mind bcos i realized that when i rename any app. themes in winterboard do not recognize the new link and end up displaying default icons of the renamed apps.

Any further info or help guys. thanx

for me it would just update(app store) then get renamed again not sure about cydia

Yes, both app store and cydia apps get updates - I have it installed and SwirlyMMS from Cydia has got two updates recently, aswell as an app store app. The only thing is when they get updated, their original name shows, and you have to rename again. For example, I renamed SwirlyMMS to simply "MMS" and when it updated to 1.2.6, it reverted back to "SwirlyMMS", so I had to rename it again.

AppStore apps don't work for me when I rename them.

nvm it was pulled from bigboss repo .... can anyone please upload the 2.1 working version or tell me where i can get it from ? ... i just wana rename few non-app store apps
