[RELEASE] Stack for iPhone OS 2.1 (2.x.x)
So, I had the privilege last night to test out MobileStack (Steven Troughton-Smith's popular application) and I have to say that it is absolutely amazing. I don't know when it will be officially ready via Cydia, but it should be relatively soon. For more information, visit his webpages:
High Caffeine Content
AND
mobilestack - Google Code
I will give you guys updates as soon as I get them. If you want, I can post a video of the app in action on my iPhone (quality won't be the best because I will have to use PhotoBooth), but I'd be happy to do so if you guys want. Let me know what you think!
*UPDATE* I spoke with the developer last night and he has really made some great progress. This is just a relative estimate (as we all know apps take a awhile to perfect) but he said that Stack will be ready for public release in ONE WEEK. I think it will be ready then too.
*UPDATE 2*
I just received a new build with a very nice update...the developer, Steven, has added a "Preferences" feature to the stack (see pictures below). Here is a link to a video of Stack in action with the newest Preferences feature:
http://mobilestack.googlecode.com/sv...ture12.mov.mp4
I have to say, I am very impressed with the progress he has been making. It's going to be one hell of an app. I know he has a few more ideas up his sleeve too
.
***Major Update:
Stack is released. Check Cydia under the Changes tab - it is there. It is compatible with firmware 2.0+. If you have any issues, post them here and I will relay to the developer (but most likely he will be checking this forum). Thank you Steven Troughton-Smith for all of your hard work!!Last edited by jabbawalkee; 09-28-2008 at 03:09 PM. Reason: RELEASE OF STACK

Does it still have the issue of the stack staying on screen when switching apps.

I never used this stuff before even when i was on 1.X. So it is like havaing several icons on the dock just like categories and they lanuch each category ? or they are just extra launcher for Apps ?

Umm have you really never used/heard of stack? They have had it on some Apple computers and you can still get it on your Apple now, I have it. Check out the video in one of the links above and you'll see just what it is. It's very useful...and not to mention, definitely the fastest of any type of launcher!

Not if it still conflicts with Dock like it did in 1x, which was a total wig out. The phone would lose it's dang mind, flashing distorted graphics..... aye. Categories is the same foundation. We'll have to see if it is still based on the old foundation which didn't play nicely with dock. (today that would be dock 2.0 and categories.)

It plays nice with every app I have on my iPhone. These are the apps I have on my iPhone (I have not had any problems at all whatsoever): Intelliscreen, Dock, Categories, AppFlow, Winterboard, WbApp, Poof, MiVTones, Cycorder, Snapture, dTunes, PocketTouch
Need I say more? It does not conflict with any apps...its much improved from 1.x.x.
