I want to block sms from mobile nos. WHICH ARE NOT on my address book only. I do NOT want to block SMS from banks, etc.
If I select address book option, I will block ALL sms which I do not want.

you are contradicting yourself there buddy...
but yet you say you...I want to block sms from mobile nos. WHICH ARE NOT on my address book only.
I will block ALL sms which I do not want.
so what is it that you want? you want to block all your messages except for the ones in your contact list? or do you want to block only certain messages that start with a certain area code?

I want to block sms messages beginning with a certain area code.

To achieve this, you can just use a wildcard contact.
Add a contact to your active blacklist and use the number as AREA*, like if the number starts with 1212, use 1212* as your contact's phone number and make sure to have the sms switch set to ON for that contact. You may want to switch off the call switch for this contact, since you told you want to block all MESSAGES from this area code.

spektro said that about that icon thing
Yes, I already saw those posts, but it does not happen here and seems to be
an realsms problem. As I stated, I pass the ball to irealsms servers when I know they are there. This is what me and the realsms dev worked along to
achieve in the past. A simple and fast scheme, and it always worked. I never changed it.

err.. sorry for sounding like a moron, but here goes...
My country code is +51. For Mobile Nos. there is no area code. All Mobile nos. start with 9 and consist of 10 digits. For eg. A Mobile no. in my address book will look like this +519876543234. the first 2 digits '51' are the country code and the next digit '9' indicates it is a mobile no.
Will you be kind enough to give me a wildcard contact for the situation I described above? Do I enter the '+' as well in wildcard contact?Last edited by baku09; 09-06-2009 at 08:50 PM. Reason: formatting

It's hard to believe that your country (Peru) does not have area codes for different states that form your country.
But adding the + will help. So basically you confirm you receive messages with identification like +51XXXXXXXX, only, even if the texter is from a distant place inside your country?

Mobile nos. do not have area code in my country.
So, Yes I recieve messages with identification like +51XXXXXXXX, only, even if the texter is from a distant place inside my country AND the first x is always 9 as all mobile nos. start with the digit '9'

I live in Peru (:-)) and yes they have area codes. Lima is always +51 1 9XXXXX the 1 is the area code of lima. Arequipa is +51 54 923456767 and so on, so iblacklist will do whatever you want it to.
If you need more help - pm me and I give you icq,or msn, or aol,or google or skype contact

Hi
iBlacklist is working normally on 3.1, as expected.
I can't speak about the birthday thing, since it's not under my development.
@ D to the M
Are you using the default messages client there? I'll take a look into your report. Thanks.

i need help.
i installed iblacklist and tested a number to block but now that i don't want to block it, it remains blocked. i removed it from the blacklist, that didn't work. i uninstalled iblacklist and this: /var/mobile/Library/iBlacklist. calls and sms still blocked. reinstalled and reset database to a clear one but its still blocked. uninstalled again but it remains blocked.
please help. i'd prefer if i didn't have to restore. thanks!
btw, i also tried the whitelist option but that too didn't work.

If you uninstalled it, you can be 100% sure that iBlacklist is not blocking anyone because it's not there !!!!
iBlacklist is a mobile substrate extension to the SpringBoard.
What does this mean?
It means that it does DYNAMIC modifications when it's installed, which is pretty different from PERMANENT modifications that i have seen on other applications on Cydia. So, once it's not being loaded because it's not even there, NO MODIFICATIONS are applied and you have your device running exactly how it was.
