Wikipedia.app!!!
Lo and behold: the one only offline Wikipedia reader for the iPhone/iPod Touch!! The dump is from October 2007 for the English version and from December 2007 for the German version.
1.)First download the application and put it in the 'Applications' folder (remember to set permissions).
2.)Download your desired dump (choice of English and German) and put the 'wp' folder in 'var/root' (don't forget permissions).
3.)Enjoy!!
Please don't moan that it's 2GB.. I know that but it's well worth the wait. The app is still rough and CAN crash (although not too often). If you open the app without having downloaded the dump it will also crash. Also credit goes to Patrick Collison, as this is his work!
It works on 1.1.3!!!!!

Damn, too bad 1.1.2/1.1.3 owners have very little 3rd party app space

It would be nice if the you were only required to download the basic program. Then have all of the data separated into different categories that people could download as if they were expansions. That way you could just download everything related to movies, books, history, europe, space, and so on.
This is my suggestion for the future of this little (hopefully soon) app.

i had that because i followed patrick collisons advise to the letter when he said create a folder named " wp "
to me that tells me to create a folder named wp with a space either side, but no, got there in the end by naming it simply wp no spaces, and made sure the permissions were correct for the files in the *.app also as well as all the dump files, all working now.

By the way "Don't Panic" is a reference to the Hitchhiker's Guidr to the Galaxy.

The instructions are on the site. The 2 GB dump does not go into the app space. How would anybody use it if it did?

Wow, it took me 1 hour and 37 minutes to transfer the 2gb file through SCP. Anybody know of a faster method to transfer it?
To OP, thanks for posting this!!. Only if Landscape reading could be implemented.
