I tried flixwaggon also and it was pretty clunky. It didn't seem to upload instantly like Qik did. Couple seconds after I push record I can see my video playing on Qik.

I love this. Quick comparison: this amazing app for free or pay $20 for videotones?? Devs just don't understand how to maximize their profits. I can't believe this is free though, I love it

Ive only tested this over Wifi, and it was very nice. The question is, has anyone tried this on 2g? I'm pretty sure 3g would be similar to wifi, but my Dad is still on the 2g iphone and he's pissed that IVR isnt updated to 2.0 yet. He accidentally wiped it off when itunes prompted him to upgrade to 2.0 :T Anyway, I'm considering pwning his phone for Qik if it works decently over EDGE.

hum i've installed and signed up and everything works fine, but i wonder if there's a way to set it so all videos streamed to my account automatically gets set as private rather than public. also, i "linked" my youtube account to it, but i'm not sure how that works. do the videos automatically gets linked to my youtube account? how does that work? TIA

Click the Qik icon in the bottom left, there should be an option to set the video to private.

For youtube upload, you have to manually do it by going to your profile page and then clicking the "upload to youtube" button under the video, followed by choosing which category to put it under. I've noticed that the youtube uplaoder doesnt play nice with safari, but it worked fine with firefox.

Does it save it locally to upload later when on wifi? Would be cool if it did, but thanks for hte FYI, I just didn't have time to check it myself.

It does not save on the phone itself. Only streams it to Qik where it saves it.

awesome app.. just really started trying it today... streams pretty well... to bad the iphone camera doesn't adjust lighting well... and even on 3G it still lags a bit... hmmm... i wonder how much data im using cuz i've been streaming for about half an hour now

*edit... nvm just noticed that it said 17kbs/sec

so thats 17kps * 33minuts(1980sec) = 33660kb
thats not bad for 33 minutes

It works great over 3G as well...the delay time from your iPhone to it streaming is all of 4 seconds. Pretty damned cool.

Fixwagon provides 1.1.4 support though, which would be useful to some people, I guess.

I'm in Melbourne. Take a look at my Qik site. We are under water right now. It's pretty amazing but it sucks big time.
