The newest version of winterboard supports this. There is a sample theme, I think it is called saurik, that demonstrates this. I believe it uses HTML and CSS to acomplish the fading, but I may be wrong.

Winterboard is such a refreshing departure of Summerboard and Customize.
Few more features and it'll be flawless.

One thing I hated about the "new" Customize is the fact that it try's to be an all around theme app but fails big time.
Before, it took care of system images and sounds, etc but once theme integration was included, it never was as elegant as SMB (not applying themes correctly, locking into a certain wallpaper, etc.)

With Saurik's winterboard, we are back to "one app for one purpose" (I'm a linux/UNIX head....this is how things should work and work best).


All I wish for now is a port of MobileFinder and I'm a happy camper.

now, whenever i install winterboard, it defaults to the leaf theme. i guess i just need to find a different theme i like and really back-up the original black default theme the phone came with (i like it a lot).

The default Apple theme for Winterboard is on Cydia under themes.

It's all stock and should be what you are looking for.
