PocketGuitar - the Virtual Guitar
Let me introduce a new app called PocketGuitar - a virtual guitar for iPhone and iPod touch. It's basically a software wavetable synth with a guitar UI.
You can find an installation instruction on the site: http://code.google.com/p/pocketguitar/

There are some rough edges in the UI, but I'd like to make it better in future versions.
I've posted the announcement on the MacRumors forum before, but I thought this forum might be another good place to announce new app launches. Sorry if you've heard about this app already
Enjoy!

No, it's not in any of the community sources yet. It would be great if it's added into MMi source!

very very cool, no more air guitar when you have pocket guitar, work perfectly on 1.1.1

This is really amazing and almost playable! Any chance I can convince you to move the frets a bit farther apart--- or make that an adjustable parameter? You could make the right hand area narrower or eliminate a fret....either way would make it more useable to me, though it'd be nice to allow both areas to be adjustable....
Anyway, thanks for this amazing toy, really much more fun than I expected it could be!

I was wondering can you make the sound stop immediately, i notices that the sound will slowly fade away, it would be great if you can make it stop when you want it. The is one app i will be enjoying for a long time...Thanks

I, as a guitarist, would say it's quite nice, but needs more work. Great for a first release though!

My guitar was collecting dust in the corner of my room, and I was just considering being less lazy and pick it back up again...
...until I saw this app
Will download when possible.

Excellent! Excellent!
Great app.
I agree with the above post that the frets could be further apart.
Just using the very bottom of the screen for plucking would work for me, allowing much more fret width.
Keep up the good work on this.
The bass doesn't sound too good at all on my phone, very distorted.
Could you manage pitch bends?
How about the 3rd and 5th fret markers on the finger board too?Last edited by Rip; 01-20-2008 at 08:54 AM.

This is now available from the ModMyI community source on Installer.
shinya, hit me up with updates when you release them, and I'll get em popped on the repo quick as a cat. Thinking fret placement could be enlarged a bit, to make easier to play. I got small fingers and its still hard to play sometimes.
Course its no Taylor... but its nice!

This is a wonderful app with huge potential! It would be great if you could somehow add some/all of the following enhancements:
- Move to any neck position (w/ realtime rubberband scrolling?)
- Custom # of frets per neck position (3, 4, 5, etc)
- Custom defaults (guitar type, # of frets, etc)
- Support for barr chords & string bends
- Support for 3rd-party guitar types (samples) & fretboards (themes)
- Recording/playback capabilitiesLast edited by _Warden_; 01-20-2008 at 03:25 PM.
